Asset/Liability Management (ALM) is responsible for ensuring the ongoing appropriateness of the match between the company’s asset portfolio and the general account’s liabilities. This involves measuring, monitoring, and managing ALM risks such as interest rate risk, liquidity risk, foreign currency risk, asset mix diversification, and market risk.

 

ALM Non-Par Reporting & Modeling is a unit within the ALM department that produces information and performs reporting and analysis, used to derive key insights to assist in the continuous management of the business and strategic decision-making.  This role is located in Winnipeg.

 

Position Overview:

 

This position will report and analyze information on our current asset portfolio, and report compliance to our investment guidelines on various ALM risks and metrics. The key objectives of the role are delivering value-added insights and developing timely, controlled, and accurate reporting and analysis.

 

The successful candidate will be able to efficiently transform large amounts of data into meaningful reports, ensuring the accuracy of the information while concurrently making improvements to existing processes. Furthermore, the candidate will add value through analysis of results, developing an expectation for anticipated results, and providing explanations for changes.

 

What you will do

  • Develop, analyze, and communicate compliance to Segmented Investment Guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of various projects and stress testing
  • Produce regular reports for various stakeholders in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Analyze portfolio changes and assist in asset portfolio decision making
  • Communicate results to other members of the department and to stakeholders across the Finance Division and lines of business
  • Process enhancements and developments

 

What you will bring

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work within timeframes/deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and appropriate controls
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Technical aptitude with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Access
    • Experience in other data analysis, analytics or reporting software is an asset
  • Highly effective in a team environment as well as ability to work independently
  • University Degree majoring in finance, statistics, actuarial mathematics, accounting, or a similar discipline
    • Progress toward a professional designation (CFA, CPA, FCIA, etc.) is an asset

The base salary for this position is between $52,800 - $87,900 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
