Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is a key member of the Lifeco Controller’s Group, with primary responsibility for segregated funds financial reporting. This role provides exposure to Great-West Lifeco’s operating segments and offers strong opportunities to broaden your technical knowledge and professional experience. What you will do:

  • Prepare semi-annual and annual financial statements for Canadian segregated funds
  • Perform quarterly financial close activities
  • Process daily and monthly journal entries
  • Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory filings
  • Update reporting for new funds, fund closures, fund manager changes, changes to investment mix and changes in fund type
  • Reconcile segregated fund asset and liability balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
  • Assist in the analysis and application of accounting policies to ensure segregated fund financial statements comply with IFRS and CLHIA standards
  • Review the work of junior team members, providing guidance and feedback as required
  • Assist with projects, automation initiatives, and process improvement opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency and controls
  • Support the financial close and reporting process, including ad hoc reporting and analysis requests

 

What you will bring:

  • University degree, majoring in accounting and/or finance preferred; CPA designation, or in pursuit of, is considered an asset
  • 3–5 years of experience in a fund accountant, financial analyst, or financial reporting role
  • Experience with segregated funds accounting is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail in assessing financial information, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively and proactively communicate issues and recommend solutions
  • Knowledge and efficient use of MS Office tools, with advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with SAP and Workiva is considered an asset

 

This position is located in the Winnipeg head office.

The base salary for this position is between $57,100 - $85,600 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
