Asset Liability Management (ALM) is the ongoing process of developing, executing, and refining strategies to manage assets and liabilities in alignment with financial objectives and risk constraints.

 

The Canada ALM team manages ALM risk and drives value creation for the $100B Canada Life general account. Working closely with the Canadian Division, Investments Division, and Global Finance, the team leads investment strategy, ALM risk oversight (e.g., interest rate and liquidity), Par yield reporting and forecasting, IFRS 17 yield curve production, and Net Investment Results attribution and forecasting.

 

The ALM Systems team plays a critical role in enabling these activities by maintaining data integrity and ensuring system reliability to effectively manage ALM risks. As Senior Analyst, ALM Systems, you will serve as a key subject matter expert, contribute to important data quality and technology initiatives, and drive process innovation.

 

As a member of this team, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across ALM and Investment Technology. You’ll bring strong technical skills, a sharp analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of stakeholders and will work on engaging, high-impact projects.

 

What will you do:

 

  • Ensure Data Integrity of the Investment Data Store (IDS) and the Canadian Asset/Liability Management (CALM) system by designing, monitoring, and implementing data validation checks (e.g., asset attributes, asset and liability cashflows). Support daily, weekly, and monthly processes in collaboration with Investment Technology
  • Provide Technical Support and Education including troubleshooting issues and offering technical support for key ALM processes. Deliver training and guidance to ALM team members on data and system usage
  • Support Systems related initiatives through effective testing, implementation support, and stakeholder collaboration, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of technology solutions  
  • Deliver and Manage Multi-Period Reporting that supports critical functions. Develop and implement automated reporting solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote best practices in the design, execution, and documentation of deliverables. Focus on enhancing efficiency, quality, and consistency across processes

  • Technical Proficiency: solid computer skills, particularly in Excel, Access, and SQL (or similar querying languages), with a focus on data handling and analysis. Experience working with relational databases and the Canada Life (GWL) Mainframe is an asset
  • Investments knowledge: Experience with securities and investments, including bonds, equities, mortgages, and real estate, would be considered an asset
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to solving complex problems
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, often within tight deadlines
  • Commitment to Quality and Improvement: dedication to continuous improvement, maintaining robust controls and striving for efficiency and accuracy in all deliverables.
  • Post-secondary education in business, with a focus in finance, management information systems, actuarial science, or accounting

The base salary for this position is between $59,800.00 - $99,700.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
