We are looking for a Supervisor, Accounting Services & Processes in Winnipeg, MB.
Role Description
Supervisor, Accounting Services & Processes plays a key role in managing suspense account activity and reconciliations, as well as maintaining the integrity of our claim payment processes. This role is also responsible for the effective management of our tax reporting obligations, ensuring weekly remittances and annual filings are made in line with legislated deadlines. The incumbent will provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to their team to help them meet objectives. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing processes, accounting controls and supporting internal audit requests to ensure compliance and proper execution of financial controls. The incumbent will play a key role in identifying and executing procedural improvements, and ensuring that the team achieves its objectives, while displaying strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
What you will do:
- Effectively provides coaching, mentoring, guidance and training for staff, and providing them with support on their daily work including continuous feedback on performance.
- Effectively manages the workflow, and monitors daily performance of the team.
- Oversee tax remittances and ensure annual filing deadlines are met.
- Carries responsibility for escalating issues, reviewing the reconciliations performed in the team, updating reconciliation files, and reviewing outgoing reports from the staff.
- Provide assistance on complicated tax scenarios.
- Assists in special projects as assigned. Projects may be systems and/or operational in scope.
- Assists Internal Audit with monthly, quarterly and annual suspense account reconciliations to ensure compliance and completeness of financial records.
- Ensures that all staff are properly backed up and that critical tasks are always covered off. This may require assuming some of the back-up responsibilities.
- Identifies, recommends and executes procedural improvements where necessary.
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in an administrative and accounting field, or a University Degree in administrative or accounting field, with related work experience.
- Enrollment in studies in pursuit of a Professional Accounting Designation (e.g. CPA) would be considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are required.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in work are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while managing deadlines are required.
- Ability to work well in a team as a strong player is necessary.
- Desire to develop leadership skills.
- Proficient user of Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website.

The base salary for this position is between $57,100 - $95,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
