We are looking for a Director, Banking Operations.
The Director of Banking Operations works collaboratively to co-lead the Banking Operations and Corporate Services for Canada Life and Great-West Lifeco. This role works closely with leaders from Corporate Treasury, Investments and the Lines of business to ensure key transactions and processes are timely and accurately executed. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
What you will do
- Provide strong leadership and oversight of daily operations, including cash and reconciliations, corporate transactions, dividend workflows, and fraud mitigation.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to accelerate the development of team members through a clear and compelling vision, establishment of goals, measurement of performance, and continuous feedback
- Develop the departmental budget and strategic business plan, including prioritization of projects and tasks, and assigning resources
- Build collaborative partnerships with other internal business units to support business priorities and encourage innovation and continuous process improvements while applying effective change management practices
- Develop and cultivate effective relationships with external business partners including financial institutions and other key stakeholders
- Provide oversight of internal/external audit requests and testing, and controls over financial reporting documentation, including regular review of departmental processes and recommend changes where appropriate.
- Provide leadership and support the Cash Solutions and Corporate Services teams as co-lead of the larger team
- Participate in and complete ad hoc projects and reports, as required.
What you will bring
- 7+ years of relevant financial services or accounting experience.
- CPA is considered an asset.
- Highly motivated, agile, with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines with multiple deliverables.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to anticipate, analyze and respond to a rapidly evolving and complex environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships.

The base salary for this position is between $92,100 - $170,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
