This a student position that is 4 or 8 months in duration. You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University. This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. Canada Life, one of Canada’s leading life insurance and financial services companies, is seeking Actuarial Students with strong achievements in their academic studies and professional actuarial exams. This is a hybrid role located at our Winnipeg head office - the successful applicant will be required to work in person 3 days per week.

 

As an Actuarial Student you are a key member of a highly respected, professional, actuarial team and will have an opportunity to work in areas such as:

  • Pricing & Product Development
  • Valuation and Financial Management
  • Asset and Liability Management
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Corporate Actuarial
  • Internal Audit or Risk & Controls
  • Marketing and Customer Insights

Qualifications

  • Working towards a University degree, preferably with a major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Statistics. This post is for students returning to school after their work term.
  • Strong achievements in academic studies. Please include a copy of your most-recent transcript with your application.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the actuarial field through successful completion of professional actuarial exams, an actuarial education, or similar.
  • Innovative problem-solver.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Well organized, delivering accurate work with an attention to detail, in a timely manner.
  • Team player who is also comfortable working independently.
  • Excel, Word, VBA, MS Access and Moody’s AXIS experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge or interest in insurance/reinsurance, market risk, and investments is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between  $46,440 - $81,090 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
