We are looking for a highly skilled and collaborative professional to join Canada life as a Wealth & Tax Planning Consultant, operating within our Advanced and Large Case Services environment. This role supports top advisors and internal field partners by delivering sophisticated tax, estate, and insurance-based wealth planning solutions for complex, high-net-worth client situations.
You will act as a trusted subject matter expert, helping advisors navigate advanced planning scenarios involving business owners, private corporations, estates, trusts, and tax-advantaged insurance strategies, while contributing to thought leadership and professional development across the field.
What You Will Do
- Advanced Case & Advisor Support
- Provide advanced tax, estate, and wealth planning consultation to advisors and Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) on complex, large-case opportunities.
- Analyze sophisticated client scenarios, including business owner and private corporation planning, to develop tailored, actionable recommendations.
- Support the design and positioning of insurance-based and wealth solutions within holistic financial plans.
- Tax & Estate Strategy
- Offer expert guidance on Canadian tax and estate planning strategies, including trusts, succession planning, shareholder issues, and insurance taxation.
- Interpret and apply tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and planning techniques to real-world client cases.
- Subject Matter Expertise & Field Enablement
- Deliver technical education and professional development to advisors and internal partners on advanced tax, estate, and wealth planning topics.
- Contribute to the development of sales strategies and planning capabilities across the field organization.
- Thought Leadership & Collaboration
- Create and contribute to technical content, including presentations, advanced planning articles, webinars, and case studies.
- Represent Canada Life through speaking engagements and engagement with industry and professional associations.
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Tax, Advanced Case, and Large Case Services teams to provide coordinated, high-quality support.
- Continuous Learning
- Remain current on Canadian tax legislation, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in tax, estate, and insurance planning.
What You Will Bring
- Significant experience in financial services with a focus on advanced wealth, tax, or estate planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex, non-routine client situations.
- Deep knowledge of Canadian taxation, estate planning, trust law, and insurance-based wealth solutions.
- Experience supporting high-net-worth clients and business owners is strongly preferred
- Professional designation such as CPA, CFP, CLU, TEP, LLB, or LLM (Tax).
- Completion of advanced tax coursework (e.g., CICA In-Depth Tax Course) is an asset.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, advisor-ready guidance.
- Strong presentation skills and comfort engaging with senior advisors and professional audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced, consultative environment
- Bilingual in Mandarin/Cantonese is a must-have.
