Solution Developer (Student Position)

This a student position that is either 4 or 8 months in duration, with preference for 8 months (May - August 2025, or May - December 2025). You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.
This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Co-op Student to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in Java-based application development, support, and configuration, working with technologies such as Tomcat, JBoss, Angular, and databases. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world environment, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to the success of our applications and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Support:
- Provide technical support for Java-based applications, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Monitor application performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Configuration and Deployment:
- Configure and maintain application servers such as Apache Tomcat and JBoss.
- Assist in deploying applications and updates to production and testing environments.
- Development and Enhancement:
- Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and enhance Java-based applications.
- Work with Angular for front-end development and integration with back-end services.
- Database Management:
- Write and optimize SQL queries for database interactions.
- Assist in database maintenance, including backups, updates, and performance tuning.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, configurations, and processes.
- Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for future reference.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, and system administrators.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and discussions.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program.
- Basic understanding of Java programming and object-oriented design principles.
- Familiarity with application servers such as Apache Tomcat and JBoss.
- Exposure to front-end development using Angular or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory):
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker).

The base salary for this position is between $44,700 - $67,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
