The Individual Wealth Technology team within Application Delivery, Canada and Lifeco is seeking a Senior Technical Lead to provide leadership for the delivery, support, enhancement, and modernization of critical Wealth Dealership technology solutions.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Technical Lead to lead a cross-functional team of software developers, engineers and quality assurance professionals supporting Canada Life's Individual Wealth Dealership technology portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Technical Solutions, this role serves as a trusted technology partner, combining strong technical expertise with people leadership to deliver business value, operational excellence, and exceptional client experiences.

As a key leader within the technology organization, you will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of initiatives, mentoring and developing team members, and ensuring the successful delivery, support, and continuous improvement of critical business applications. Working closely with business, technology, and vendor partners, you will help evolve existing capabilities, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure the ongoing stability, performance, and modernization of solutions that support our advisors, clients, and business partners.

What you will do:

Technology Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the design, delivery, support, and continuous improvement of Wealth Dealership technology solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight and best practices to developers, engineers, and quality assurance professionals to ensure the scalability, security, and quality of software products.
  • Partner with architects, business leaders, and product stakeholders to evaluate options, recommend solutions, and align technology delivery with business objectives.
  • Support the successful execution of technology projects, enhancements, vendor implementations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure applications remain reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with operational standards and business needs.
  • Monitor application health, security, operational performance, and support metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the annual business planning process by providing a financial view of application support. Monitor maintenance budgets to ensure spend is on target.

 Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build strong partnerships across business and technology teams to understand priorities and challenges.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by providing technology insights, recommendations, and thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to support product roadmaps, enhancements, and innovation opportunities.
  • Foster collaboration across teams to break down silos and achieve shared business outcomes.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of technical professionals.
  • Create clarity around goals, priorities, roles, and responsibilities while supporting employee growth and career development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and inclusion.
  • Support workforce planning, talent development and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Lead a team to meet and exceed market-leading service standards for application support, production and maintenance, and technology services delivery, while ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Identify opportunities (processes, training, systems) to retain and transition knowledge to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
  • Lead teams through change with confidence, helping create stability and clarity in evolving environments.

 


What you will bring:

 

  • Ideal candidate has experience working with Wealth businesses and systems and maintains a strong knowledge of wealth products in the Canadian market.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience supporting technology platforms and delivering technology solutions in a complex enterprise environment, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading software development, engineering, quality assurance, or application support teams.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to hire, inspire, train/develop, performance manage and drive high employee engagement and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of application delivery, operational support, systems integration, and software development practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of delivery and operational excellence.
  • Able to be “hands-on” with support, but also have a strategic / business mindset
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and managing vendor-delivered solutions.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to change, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform and ITIL Certification considered strong assets

The base salary for this position is between $96,200.00 - $146,200.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
