We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analyst, a Power BI Specialist, to join our Global Procurement team with a reporting dotted line to the quantitative team AAA (Advanced Analytics & Automation) at Canada Life. The focus of the role will be on building Power BI reports leveraging various sources and platforms that are effective in driving procurement and risk-based analysis and actionable insights and providing support to other teams in automating reporting solutions.

 

As a Senior Analyst , you will also be involved in developing machine learning applications, advanced analytics solutions, risk and financial models and various automations. Given the broad range of projects and topics, this role comes with great opportunities for growth and learning. What you will do:

 

  • Act as an expert in Power BI, responsible for building visually appealing and interactive risk reports and dashboards.
  • Use advanced Power BI features and functionality to develop insightful visualizations and data-driven storytelling.
  • Support Global Procurement with data-driven risk reporting and data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain best practices for report automation, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Collaborate with various teams within Risk, Compliance and Actuarial areas to identify reporting requirements, analyze data sources, and automate reporting solutions using Power BI and other tools.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data-driven reporting, reporting automation, and data visualization.
  • Work with the quantitative team to develop and enhance machine learning applications, advanced analytics, risk modeling and robotic process automation projects.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis, identify patterns and trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decision-making.
  • Design and implement robust data models to support various advanced analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Understand Ariba data along with any relevant systems.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Proficiency in Power BI, including experience in designing and developing visually compelling and effective reports and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation techniques to extract and transform data from various sources.
  • Strong programming skills are required (one or more languages, such as Python, R, C++, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of data visualization best practices, with a keen eye for creating intuitive and impactful visualizations.
  • Experience with data modeling, data management, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with cloud solutions and reporting platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex datasets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such as Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a quantitative role withing the financial industry, specializing in advanced analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), machine learning applications, and risk modeling.
  • Strong interpersonal and business communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, deliver presentations, and facilitate projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results within established timelines.
  • Knowledge of procurement, financial markets, products, and industry regulations is a plus.

The base salary for this position is between  $61,900 - $114,500 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
