Role description
Great-West Lifeco’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team is a key part of our Global Risk and Compliance function and plays a central role in risk oversight across all regions, business units, and risk types. ERM designs, coordinates, implements, and maintains core risk management processes that support the Company’s enterprise risk management framework and ensure consistency in risk practices to facilitate key business decision-making. The team continuously evolves in response to changes in both the external environment (e.g., stakeholder expectations, regulatory requirements, risk landscape) and internal business strategies.
This role reports to the Director, ERM, and presents a unique opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders across the organization, including all three lines of defence, compliance, and technology functions. It requires a detail-oriented and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can navigate complexity and ambiguity with discretion and professionalism.
The Senior Analyst will lead, and support ERM’s core initiatives related to End-User Computing (EUC) and Risk Data Management (RDM). This includes promoting best practices, ensuring that key EUCs are appropriate for use with reliable controls in place, and enhancing the quality, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of key risk data used in decision-making processes.
Success in this role depends on the ability to build strong collaborative relationships, work independently, and contribute to the continuous improvement of ERM’s data governance and risk oversight capabilities.
What you will do
- Planning and execution of EUC control testing across the company and communicating results with key stakeholders and EUC owners (final report, findings, recommendations etc.)
- Support the development and maintenance of the centralized EUC repository including the process of collecting and updating the EUC inventory (SharePoint, Power Apps and Power BI dashboard maintenance)
- Promoting best practices in EUC asset control documentation in the company as a subject matter expert
- Develop, establish and support on-going processes to monitor, assess and improve risk data quality and reliability by instituting controls over data across the organization, and creating remediation plans when data quality issues are identified
- Support reporting on the effectiveness of the RDM framework and manage the annual Risk Policy Attestation (RPA) program as it relates to RDM
- Participate and promote the sharing of best practices around data management and develop linkages with other data governance and data quality constructs outside of Risk
- Maintain and help evolve the EUC and RDM frameworks within Lifeco, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and staying current on industry leading practices.
What you will bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services industry with a degree in business or a related discipline or other professional related qualification
- Excellent communication and change management skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly analytical and independent, with strong problem-solving skills, multitasking ability, and a collaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with EUC tools such as Excel, Power BI, Access, Axis, SQL, and the ability to quickly learn new platforms and technologies.
- Strong data management expertise, with knowledge of BCBS 239 and experience working with risk data frameworks.
- Deep understanding of insurance risk management and familiarity with insurance products and industry practices.
