Principal, Engineering Specialist

As a Principal, Engineering Specialist you will support Canada Life by building modern and powerful cloud native and hosted solutions, focusing on architecture and the implementation of complex software in an automated landscape. You will drive modernization strategies and display exceptional leadership, communication, and technical skills and act as a significant influencer of forward-thinking cloud architecture practices across the organization.

 

What you will do:

  • Architect, design and build modern public cloud capabilities such as infrastructure pipelines, security/policy as code, automated code delivery, automated testing, automated application monitoring
  • Provide Technical thought leadership across legacy modernization, API strategy and data services
  • Collaboration with key business units to ensure a sound governance and review process is created for DevOps and Cloud Security
  • Ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements are met and measurable in all cloud environments
  • Contribute to new operational processes required at the enterprise level to support highly resilient cloud solutions

 

What you will bring: 

  • You hold a University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • You have 5+ years of experience working with modern cloud technologies and implementing creative solutions on more than one cloud platform
  • You possess strong knowledge of infrastructure solutions, specifically in relation to cloud programs, platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies.
  • You have strong knowledge of cloud network topologies and technologies with an emphasis on network gateway devices (ingress/egress) and proven experience delivering cloud services
  • You have strong knowledge of Continuous Integration Delivery models such as Azure DevOps
  • You hold solid experience in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
  • You have a proven track record of strategic vendor management and a strong financial discipline
  • You have the ability to lead, mentor, and influence junior talent
  • You have previous experience in a large enterprise environment in a regulated industry
