Canada Life is seeking a highly motivated Sr Analyst, Cloud FinOps to play a key role in our Cloud Financial Operations team. This role is central to managing and optimizing cloud spend across multiple platforms, aligning financial accountability with technical execution, and supporting strategic cost-efficiency goals. 
 
Reporting to the Manager, Cloud FinOps; the Analyst, Cloud FinOps will also lead the continuous evolution of our Cloud FinOps practice, collaborating with a variety of personas across cloud consumers, engineers, and finance, to deliver a highly optimized and efficient multi-cloud environment for Canada Life.  

 

This position also plays a key role in Canada Life’s representation on the Global FinOps Council, collaborating with peers across the Great-West Lifeco group to share learnings and advance FinOps best practices. 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Monitor and analyze cloud financial data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities across AWS, Azure, and GCP. 
  • Lead efforts to manage and optimize cloud costs, ensuring efficient resource usage and return on investment. 
  • Track contractual commitments, credits, and funding allocations; provide burn-down projections and consumption forecasts. 
  • Collaborate with observability and cloud engineering teams to develop automation and self-service capabilities. 
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes for cloud usage. 
  • Assist with implementation and management of cost allocation and chargeback/showback models in partnership with Finance. 
  • Ensure governance and compliance with cloud cost policies and operational controls. 
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights into cloud spend and performance. 
  • Align cloud usage with business objectives by working cross-functionally with engineering, application, finance, and operations teams. 
  • Evaluate and maintain tools and automation for cloud cost monitoring and savings optimization (e.g. Cloudability, Turbonomic). 
  • Partner with Procurement on multi-cloud marketplace use and drive initiatives to optimize pricing and contract terms. 
  • Advocate for FinOps through internal training, awareness sessions, and engagement activities. 

 

What You Bring 

  • 3+ years of FinOps experience in a large, complex, multi-disciplinary organization. 
  • Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field — or equivalent experience in Technology or Finance. 
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (or willingness to obtain certification); active engagement with the broader FinOps community is an asset. 
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP). 
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability, Turbonomic, or similar platforms. 
  • Solid understanding of financial principles including budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across diverse geographies. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams. 
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud billing, cost recovery models, invoicing processes, and FinOps best practices. 
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure and agile environments is a plus. 
  • Passion for automation, continuous improvement, and driving a strong FinOps culture.

The base salary for this position is between  $70,500.00 - $117,400.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
