Senior Engineering Specialist-SAP Basis

We are seeking a SeniorEngineering Specialist – SAP Basis to join our Corporate Functions division.

 

This role champions the transition to high-velocity engineering delivery and automated deployment for SAP landscapes in a cloud-first environment (Azure preferred).

 

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will lead SAP Basis operations and modernization initiatives, ensuring secure, resilient, and cost-efficient solutions. You will drive automation, continuous improvement, and migration to modern digital stacks, enabling faster delivery and enhanced customer value. The role also requires expertise in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and integration with modern identity and access management services.

   

Responsibilities

 

Technical Delivery & Operations

 

  • Lead SAP Basis administration across multiple landscapes, ensuring system health and compliance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SAP HANA-based systems and S/4HANA environments in cloud platforms.
  • Perform upgrades, support stacks, system copies, and implement performance tuning.
  • Monitor and administer databases that support the SAP systems
  • Drive automation of operational processes and continuous integration/delivery models using Infrastructure-as-Code principles
  • Participate in Basis team 7/24 on-call schedule
  • Collaborate with architecture and portfolio leaders to transition legacy services to modern stacks aligned with SAP BTP.

 

Innovation & Engineering Excellence

 

  • Introduce and maintain engineering best practices, leveraging DevOps principles and automated deployment.
  • Identify friction points in deployment processes and implement solutions to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advocate for adoption of new technologies and patterns.

 

Security & Risk Management

 

  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data security, and regulatory standards.
  • Integrate SAP IAS/IPS with Azure Active Directory for SSO and MFA.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal audits and oversee remediation plans.

 

Collaboration & Leadership

 

  • Mentor and guide team members in technical competency and engineering mindset.
  • Act as a servant leader, removing blockers and ensuring momentum toward project completion.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with IT leaders, architecture teams, and vendors. 

 

Qualifications and Competencies

 

  • 6–8 years in SAP Basis administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or engineering-focused role.
  • Proven expertise in cloud-based SAP landscapes (Azure preferred) and SAP HANA optimization.
  • Experience with SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and identity services (IAS/IPS).
  • S/4HANA, NetWeaver 7.5, ECC 6.0, Solution Manager, SAP PI/PO, SAP Data Services, SAP XSA
  • Oracle 19c, HANA 2.0, RHEL Linux
  • Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS engineering, and cloud network technologies.
  • Experience with SAP CALM and SAP ChaRM is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking.
  • Customer-centric mindset and results orientation.

 

Preferred Certifications

 

  • SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA
  • Agile/Scrum certification (asset)

 

The base salary for this position is between  $85,200 minimum - $135,200 maximum annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
