The Strategy team plays a key role in helping Lifeco grow and create meaningful value for its stakeholders in an increasingly uncertain and complex environment. By working across Lifeco and its businesses, the team helps senior leaders and executives address some of Lifeco’s most critical strategic questions and priorities. Expect to support areas such as portfolio strategy and capital allocation; annual Board of Directors strategy offsite; priority strategic and growth initiatives; market, industry, and competitive intelligence and macro trends analysis; and strategic partnerships.

 

This role reports to the Vice President, Strategy.   

 

What you will do

 

  • Provide analytical support for a range of priority strategic initiatives across the Lifeco portfolio, including:

 

    • Analyzing business and external data to understand market size, share, trends
    • Supporting strategic problem solving and business casing for strategic initiatives
    • Developing and updating financial models for M&A and partnership opportunities
    • Developing options, and assessing benefits and trade-offs, to help arrive at recommended actions
    • Supporting the development of presentations delivered up to and including the board

 

  • Provide internal and external research support to continuously enhance the strategic perspectives and capabilities of Lifeco and our businesses, including:

 

    • Monitoring and analyzing external market shifts and competitor dynamics
    • Developing perspectives on market opportunities and threats to share with internal business partners
    • Interacting with internal stakeholders to collect, analyze and cross-share relevant business line information
    • Elevating the collective skillset of the internal strategy network, while working in a great learning environment

 

  • Support other related duties we engage in as a Strategy team – e.g., represent Strategy on cross-functional portfolio initiatives, identify and help foster potential strategic partnerships

 

What you will bring

 

  • 3+ years of experience in a strategy or problem-solving role – e.g., management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, corporate finance 
  • Direct financial services experience is preferred – with an understanding of, or experience in, the retirement, wealth, group benefits, insurance industries 
  • University degree preferably in business, finance, economics or other equivalent – MBA or professional designations are an asset e.g., CFA, CPA
  • Self-starter with high motivational level, intellectual curiosity, and openness to learning and continuous development
  • Ability to structure and solve complex problems, and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Strong business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical and critical thinking
  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial analysis, research and complex modeling - including Excel
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills – including PowerPoint

The base salary for this position is between  $70,500 - $117,400 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission, etc.).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
