Manager Investment Product Support - 1 year contract

Reporting to the Director, Product Support, the Manager is responsible for accelerating the delivery of a best-in-class investment product support plan, fully aligned to Canada Life’s Individual Wealth business division strategic priorities.

 

The Manager will work closely with partners across the firm including Investment Management, Sales, Distribution, Marketing and Digital to conceptualize, lead and manage a strategic product support plan for their respective portfolio / product / program segments.
 

This individual is responsible for supporting the delivery of a wide range of strategic initiatives and programs to both grow and retain clients and assets in their assigned category. They will provide direction to others within the firm and be an invaluable expert on assigned cross-functional working groups, to increase the overall efficiency of Canada Life’s product positioning and support. The incumbent will need to be a leader who drives continuous improvement with a growth mindset. They will champion industry best practices to ensure the needs of internal teams, advisors and clients are met.
 

Accountabilities:

  • Play a key role in the development and implementation of an industry best-in-class strategic product support roadmap, working closely with key partners across the firm. This includes ideating and developing the positioning/narrative on new product launches as well as existing focus funds.

  • Be the “go-to” positioning expert within the team for their respective portfolios / product & program segments, directing key internal partners when required on key messages. This will involve developing product/project launch positioning documents, fund deep dives, FAQs, fund feature sheets, product guides, pitch decks, scripting for events, and writing other forms of product related material and content.  

  • Develop written content to cover a range of investment topics such as – market/industry trends, why a particular asset class, why now, why choose Canada Life, client and advisor benefits of products, strengths and investment approach of the portfolio manager, competitive positioning etc.     

  • Develop and build strong relationships with a wide range of groups including Product, Marketing, Sales, Advisor Networks, and CX / Digital teams

  • Deliver an expert level of understanding on investments, including various asset classes, investment fund types (mutual funds, segregated funds, portfolio solutions etc.), fund peer group and key competitors

  • Calculate and interpret product and industry data and communicate the findings to senior leaders, sales teams, and other stakeholders across the organization.

  • Stay ahead of rapidly evolving financial services industry trends to ensure our wealth offering is prominent and effectively positioned in the market

  • Contribute to new product development processes ensuring the competitive and strategic positioning of the company’s products within the Canada Life product shelf

  • Provide proactive analysis, information and support to the Director, Wealth Solutions & Product Support and other leaders as needed

 

 

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 7+ years of related industry investment experience

  • University degree preferably in business, finance, economics or marketing

  • Strategic thinker and business acumen with the ability to manage and drive change

  • Strong writing skills and ability to develop well structured PowerPoint content

  • Ability to understand and successfully navigate the mechanics of a heavily matrixed organization

  • Proven ability to build strong business relationships on all levels

  • Results driven with a focus on industry and market trends

  • Capable of prioritizing competing priorities to achieve results

  • Possesses a high degree of financial, analytic and problem-solving skills

  • Canadian Securities Course. CFA and/or other industry related qualifications are an asset

  • Strong proficiency with the MS Office suite. Proven experience with various industry related applications including Morningstar Direct/AWS, Salesforce, Bloomberg are an asset.

The base salary for this position is between $82,800- $137,900 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
