Financial Analyst - 18 month Contract

The Local Reporting team is looking to fill a position of Financial Analyst. This is an 18-month contract position located in downtown Toronto at our Canada Life Campus at Queen Street and University Avenue.

 

The Capital & Risk Solutions Division of Great-West Lifeco participates in international markets, providing life, longevity and property and casualty reinsurance in the United States and in international markets. We are among the top 10 life reinsurers in the United States by assumed business.

 

The Local Reporting team manages and maintains the in-force valuation model and produces quantification and analysis of reserve on local statutory bases in the US, Hong Kong, and Macau Branches. The team frequently interacts with other teams within the Capital & Risk Solutions Division, such as Financial Management, Valuation, Pricing, and Finance, as well as teams across the organization, such as Corporate Actuarial, Capital Management, and Asset & Liability Management.

 

 

What you will do 

 

  • Transform the IFRS 17 valuation process for the Hong Kong Participating block of business from VFA to GMM.
  • Monitor experience of the Hong Kong Participating block for the purposes managing the Dividend Stabilization Reserve and making recommendations for the Policyholder Dividend Scale.
  • Respond to queries from Corporate Actuarial and the Hong Kong regulators on the Hong Kong Participating and Non-Participating business.
  • Provide support in maintaining the Valuation models.
  • Provide support for other ad-hoc requests within the team.
  • Additional opportunities to work on individual projects as needed and interact with other teams within CRS and the company.

  • Actuarial/Accounting/Finance background
  • Experience with GGY AXIS is a definite asset
  • Excellent MS Office skills with an emphasis on MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and innovative
  • Committed to delivering results in the required timeframe with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to convey complex technical topics
  • Proactive, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team

The base salary for this position is between  $51,400 - $ 95,200 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
