Director, Technology Modernization

We are looking for a Director, Technology Modernization to join our Insurance Solutions technology team. Reporting to VP, Technology, this role who will work closely with technology teams and business partners to deliver on key business outcomes as well as technology priorities, driving forward modernization in our applications, platforms and our ways of working.
What you will do
- Collaborate with technology and business teams to develop technology transformation roadmap that aligns with overall business strategy
- Assess existing on-prem applications to define cloud migration roadmap and execute the migration
- Collaborate with technology and business to evaluate new products and assess feasibility
- Enable engineering excellence, modernization and a deeper interlock between app dev and architecture
- Support technology discovery (early-stage assessments, POCs) in support of BU strategy
- Assess all risks and offer mitigation strategies, communicating impacts with an overarching view in mind
- Apply a challenger mindset to assess and validate business requirements, assumptions, and solution options
- As a trusted advisor, provide technical expertise and domain knowledge to advise and guide stakeholders and partners

What you will bring
- Bachelor Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent degree
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in IT environments with a preference for significant complexity, highly regulated, and/or financial services with experience developing and promoting code into production
- Experience in designing and migrating applications to AWS or Azure
- Exposure/Involvement with Strategy/Delivery and having a Product mindset is desired
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies
- Enthusiasm for hands-on work to support innovative prototypes and guide development teams
- Knowledge of emerging technology trends and best practices for improving operational efficiency
- Experience in implementing tools to enhance productivity
- Strong communication skills with ability to engage independently with different levels of the organization and tailor communication based on audience (e.g. technology executive, business stakeholder, technical SME)
