We are seeking a Director, Platform Product Owner for our Appian Platform.

 

We are seeking visionary leaders to transform our Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), Workflow, and Automation capabilities. As a Director, Platform Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Workflow and Automation at Canada Life. We are hiring four Directors, each accountable for one of the following areas:

 

    1. Leading one or more large-scale applications of IDP, Workflow, and Automation.
    2. Driving the IDP, Workflow, and Automation Centre of Excellence and Continuous Improvement.

 

In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver exceptional experiences for employees, advisors, members, and customers. You will own the platform vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and enabling outcomes that drive measurable business value.

 

 

What You Will Do

    • Define and own the platform vision and roadmap for IDP, Workflow, and Automation, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.
    • Collaborate across the organization to leverage reusable capabilities and deliver scalable solutions.
    • Translate strategy into actionable plans, including backlog prioritization, feature breakdown, and release management.
    • Champion customer-centric design, using data-driven insights and usability feedback to guide decisions.
    • Lead end-to-end delivery, from concept through adoption and value realization, ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Partner with technology leaders to evaluate architecture, manage dependencies, and optimize build vs. buy decisions.
    • Drive Agile delivery discipline, ensuring transparency, risk mitigation, and timely execution.

 

 

What You Bring

    • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills, able to simplify complexity and inspire action.
    • Ability to balance trade-offs and make decisions that optimize business outcomes.
    • Expertise in Agile delivery, backlog management, and prioritization.
    • Experience with Workflow and Automation platforms (e.g., Appian, PEGA, CP4BA) and low-code SaaS solutions.

The base salary for this position is between  $121,200 - $171,200 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
