Our Data Access Management team is part of the Identity and Access Management group, and is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and standardizing processes and technologies across Canada Life, to support Canada life in the journey of modernizing the governance of data management and strengthening data security.
What you will do:
The Data Access Engineering Specialist, Data Access Management will work closely with the Director of Data Access Management and other members of the team to support the technical implementations (design, build, test, deploy and support), work with leaders and other technology teams to help achieve program milestones. The candidate will also be involved in hands on implementation of the data access management products, assist in achieving the program milestones, own specific modules/functionalities, and sustain the Data Access Management services to support Canada Life needs. The ideal candidate will be required to have the below requirements:
- Experience in implementation and execution of data discovery, classification, access, monitoring, governance tools, remediation, and business process realization for enterprises.
- Experience working with a variety of data sources, such as on prem systems (file shares, Mainframes, databases, etc.), SaaS solutions (Salesforce, ServiceNow, etc.), Cloud Hyper scalars and their services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.), custom solutions, etc.
- Integrate with other solutions such as Data Catalog, Data Marketplace, Data Lake platforms, SSO solutions like Active Directory, Privileged Management tools, SIEM tools, DLP solution, ticketing tools etc.
- Help design, implement, and maintain Data Access control frameworks such are Role Based Access Control (RBAC), Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) and/or Policy Based Access Control (PBAC) in conjunction with classification and sensitivity of the data.
- Experience on Data Access Management Lifecycle (identification, certification, remediation, analytics & reporting, etc.) processes and implementation of the use cases.
- Understand and experience in implementing Data Governance capabilities such as data quality, metadata management, access remediation, access governance, and relevant standards.
- Participate and contribute to data source identification, data mapping, functional and detail design, support and guide the team in implementation.
- Identify, analyze, interpret trends or patterns in Data Access issues and requests, arranging and driving deeper insights.
- Help prepare regular updates for stakeholders regarding proposed solutions, timelines, progress, and issues.
- Participate in testing activities to ensure tool integrations are properly implemented.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Informatics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum Five years of relevant and related experience in Data Access Governance
- Minimum of Three years hands on implementation on Data Access Governance programs. Work experience in financial industry is a plus.
- Proven experience in data management, with a focus on Data Access control solutions
- Strong understanding and work exposure to integration tools mentioned above to support Data Access management solution.
- Knowledge of Data Cataloging, Data Marketplace, Data Management tools (including Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC), Cloud Data Marketplace (CDMP, Cloud Data Integration (CDI)), Data Access Remediation.
- Good understanding of different type of data sources, data structures, and analytical solution structures
- Understanding of data protection, privacy laws and regulations.
- Attention to detail, sense of urgency, and commitment to deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, quantify, and effectively raise business risks associated with data access.
- Good relationship skills, ability to establish and develop new relationships with different practices, collaboration & team skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Decision making regarding work priorities and deadlines must be appropriate to maintain an orderly schedule and completion of deadlines materials.
- Ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.

The base salary for this position is between $70,500.00 - $117,400.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
