Role Description:

Canada Technology group is looking to hire a Cloud Solution Architect reporting to the Director Technical Solution. The Solution Architect will collaborate with their Portfolio & Technology teams as well as business leaders, sponsors, and stakeholders to develop solution designs and technology roadmaps. They will work to define and maintain architecture artifacts for supporting project delivery and application support and lead technical vision and direction for solutions, ensuring consistency with overall enterprise and portfolio architecture that may at times include hands-on development (e.g. Proof of Concept and project development). The Solution Architect will also have an opportunity to effect change within the organization by incorporating new patterns and/or technologies into new ways of working that improve business value.

  • Design, define and facilitate a solution architecture that leverages enterprise capabilities and efficient usage of process, technology, data and people to align these capabilities.
  • Leverage organizational standards and architecture guiding principles to define infrastructure non-functional requirements and assure technical solution adherence to these guidelines.
  • Leads the definition of and maintains the technical architecture(s) in collaboration with EA for the architectural decisions, solution architecture, technical vision and supports the development of technology roadmaps.
  • Focal point for significant infrastructure and development issues ensuring quality designs.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities where solutions can enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Keeps abreast of latest technological/industry trends.
  • Fosters a high-performance culture for staff in the architecture team and engineering.
  • Works closely with all team members to create solutions that accommodates future architectural changes and designs.

 

What you will bring

  • Bachelor Computer Science / Software Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in complex IT environments especially in the areas of application development and integrations.
  • 4+ years of experience in hands-on cloud solution architecture and solution design with good understanding of Enterprise Design Patterns
  • Knowledge of Microservices architecture, PaaS-based architectures and SaaS-based applications; Experience designing and leveraging Cloud PaaS and SaaS solutions.
  • Values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to utilize an iterative or agile approach.
  • Advanced level of analysis of the big picture while maintaining a level of detail appropriate to the context of a variety of situations.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative stakeholder relationships across multiple geographies and business functions as well as with vendors 

 

Assets: 

  • Experience in the financial services industry or in a similar complex and regulated industry.

  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infra, Infrastructure as Code (IaC); Automation Platforms; Cloud service offering IaaS & PaaS-based architectures. Experience with Container platforms

  • Experience working with at least one of the major public cloud providers (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and a willingness to continue to expand your knowledge. 

  • Knowledge working with technologies such as Terraform, Ansible or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools 

  • Knowledge with CI/CD tooling such as Gitlab, Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Vault etc.

  • Architectural experience using modelling languages and frameworks (UML, TOGAF, ArchiMate, 4+1 View Model, etc), architecture practices and principles in Business, Information (data), Application, Technology, and Security architecture disciplines.

  • Experience in, and understanding of, Scrum, Kanban and Agile values and principles 

  • Understanding of continuous architecture and value stream approach to business solutions

The base salary for this position is between $61,900.00 - $114,500.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
