We are looking for a Manager, Technology Strategic Finance.

 

Reporting to the Director Strategic Finance, this role will help the Canada Technology Finance team solve key challenges and problems by partnering with Tech leaders to drive outcomes related to our long-term Technology strategy. The Strategic Finance Manager would be responsible for supporting, developing and maintaining Technology strategic plan including forecasts and reviews, ongoing technology performance monitoring, reporting, analysis and insights, financial modelling of emerging technology opportunities, capacity planning, key performance indicators (KPIs) as well as process improvements benefits realization. The role’s challenges lie primarily in the breadth of its accountabilities, requiring significant agility, identification of inconsistencies, the ability to go beyond the analysis of data to arrive at true business insight, and the presence to support Technology senior leaders in robust decision-making.

 

What you will do 

 

Strategy and financial plan Delivery

  • Manage and provide support on select projects and initiatives, engaging partners and teams in workshops and working sessions while leveraging roadmaps, KPIs, results measures and organizational goals / objectives to problem solve and align plans
  • Designing and providing actionable reporting to leaders on various KPIs
  • Designing and managing staff resources and forecasts appropriately
  • Providing guidance on investment and project decisions, ensuring that project milestones are adhering to approved budgets
  • Supporting achievement of Technology strategy
  • Develop, build, and deliver well-structured, persuasive, visual presentation materials for senior audiences through storytelling that converts analysis into compelling insights
  • Support strategic / annual planning, including roadmap development, strategy presentations, financial plans and forecasts

 

Performance Management

  • Manage relationships with all areas of Technology, Finance and Corporate Performance Management in a seamless manner.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the impact and financial viability of new strategic initiatives and partnerships
  • Provide key financial analysis and management reporting, including delivery of commentaries and executive summaries to support leaders’ decisions, provide impacts and quantifications of prospective or potential decisions.
  • Oversee the development of business cases to provide cost/benefit analysis on opportunities.
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of monthly reporting.
  • Provide measurement of new tactics or strategies attempted, to see if they are successful.
  • Design, capture and analyze Benefits Realization report on Technology Efficiency implemented initiatives to capture efficiencies.
  • Draw reliable and timely financial and non-financial data and information together from a wide range of sources and provide thorough analysis, insights and options to enable the Leadership team to make sound business decisions. Own supporting data to ensure single source of truth.
  • Design and deliver ad hoc performance reporting and analytics for a range of business requirements.
  • Lead the financial modelling activity for strategic business opportunities and initiatives using a range of modelling and scenario-building tools, ensuring rigorous testing of assumptions and risks to aid high quality decision-making by the Leadership team.
  • Financial management of the Strategic initiatives portfolio

 

Budgeting and planning

  • Develop and maintain leading practice processes for business planning, expense budgeting, performance monitoring and analysis, financial modelling, and post-investment review.
  • Support the annual Technology business planning and budgeting cycle, including budget development as well as periodic reviews with cost centre owners, and reforecasting.
  • Set and coordinate annual expense budget and capacity planning for Technology Strategy
  • Continuously analyze expenses and capacity for variances.

 

What you will bring 

  • Storytelling and deck building is a must have skillset
  • Strong business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical and critical thinking
  • University Degree in Business or Finance & related designation
  • Highly proficient analytical skills, including financial analysis and research, with the ability to organize results and recommendations clearly
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with proven abilities to collaborate with employees across the organization
  • Proficient use of tools like PPT and Excel (working knowledge of Thinkcell, Macros and Power BI will be an asset)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a finance or strategy role, preferably within the financial services industry or consulting

The base salary for this position is between  $84,900.00 - $141,400.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
