We are looking for Manager, Portfolio Reporting & Financial Governance to join our PM Practice and Portfolio Management & Governance team as part of the Technology Project Management Office.

 

 

Reporting to the AVP Strategy, Portfolio Management & Governance, this role will lead portfolio reporting, annual planning, portfolio analytics, financial governance and reporting. This role has broad scope, with opportunity to work with different technology teams in Canada and Globally.

 

 

What you will do: 

      • Play a leadership role in evolving our TPMO reporting and scorecard to measure success against our strategic priorities, and regular measurements and reporting against these targets
      • Collaborate with executive teams to determine the key technology performance measurements and metrics that support achievement of outcomes and improved decision making.
      • Develop and evolve executive dashboards and insights, reporting on KPI’s and value delivered
      • Lead the team responsible for developing our monthly and quarterly Portfolio reports
      • Provide reporting & information support to the annual initiatives planning process and interlock sessions with various Business unit tech portfolio leads
      • Develop, build, and deliver well-structured, persuasive, visual presentation materials for senior audiences through storytelling that converts analysis into compelling insights
      • Conduct financial analysis including development of financial models to support strategies to understand opportunity economics and challenges
      • Support informed decision‑making through clear reporting, metrics, KPI tracking, and a reliable single source of truth.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Portfolio Dashboards & Performance Reporting

    • Oversee development of enterprise portfolio dashboards, reports, and performance insights.
    • Measure and communicate project health, progress, and realized benefits.
    • Establish and refine reporting processes for key TPMO deliverables to ensure stakeholder clarity and alignment.
    • Partner with leaders to drive TPMO tool adoption and standardization to enable consistent, streamlined reporting.

 

Strategy & Planning

    • Lead and support portfolio‑level planning cycles, introducing metrics that improve transparency and support investment prioritization and resource allocation decisions.
    • Support annual planning activities and ensure alignment to strategic roadmaps and enterprise outcomes
    • Enable transparency and governance in financial planning and forecasting processes.

 

Financial Governance & Reporting

    • Oversee financial governance processes, portfolio financial data & forecasting accuracy, portfolio financial reporting.
    • Drive the design and implementation of centralized financial governance processes with a forward-looking approach.
    • Lead portfolio financial structuring and clean-up to establish a single source of truth.
    • Define and standardize processes, templates, and tools for program/project forecasting and financial tracking.
    • Develop and maintain portfolio-level financial reporting, ensuring transparency and consistency.
    • Establish and enforce compliance with financial standards and propose frameworks for continuous improvement.

 

Strategic Alignment & KPI Measurement

    • Assess portfolio initiatives against strategic outcomes and validate alignment with Canada Life and Technology objectives.
    • Implement KPI measurement frameworks tied to business cases to track value realization.
    • Provide actionable insights through reporting on key metrics to support executive decision-making.

 

What you will bring:

 

      • Experience in creating reporting and dashboards for senior leadership with a focus on technology
      • Highly proficient analytical skills, including financial analysis and research, with the ability to organize results and recommendations clearly
      • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with proven abilities to collaborate with employees across the organization and build strong relationships
      • Proficient use of tools like Power BI, PowerPoint and Excel (working knowledge of Thinkcell and Macros will be an asset)
      • Ability to foster (by example and coaching) an environment that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo and inspires creativity
      • Prior work experience demonstrating strong leadership, focus on operational efficiencies and cost effectiveness, and ability to establish and champion best practices
      • Understanding of different project management methodologies (PMP and Agile Training are considered strong assets)
      • University degree in a relevant discipline such as business, finance, engineering or other specialized degree
      • At least 7-8 years of experience in a finance or reporting role, preferably within technology teams in the financial services industry (consulting experience will be a plus)

The base salary for this position is between $102,000 - $152,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
