The Global Private Debt Investments (“GPD”) team oversees a $40 billion portfolio of private debt investments on behalf of Great-West Lifeco. Focused on the Canadian, U.S., and European private placement markets, the team originates, structures, and underwrites more than $4 billion of investments annually across corporates, infrastructure and project finance, and structured finance transactions.
The Investment Analyst will primarily support the GPD team by producing annual credit reviews on the existing portfolio, assisting in executing new investments, and other assigned tasks. This role is well-suited for an early-career professional who combines strong analytical skills with a demonstrated interest in leveraging data, automation, and AI tools to improve decision-making, enhance efficiency, and solve complex business challenges.
What you will do:
- Complete annual credit reviews for existing investments, including reviewing financial statements, financial models, and other transaction documents, analyzing performance, and monitoring covenant compliance.
- Monitor an assigned portfolio of investments, including reviewing quarterly financial statements and compliance reports, providing credit updates, and documenting the risk management process.
- Maintain various risk management/compliance reports.
- Assist in amendments and other investment management reports.
- Support the team in due diligence for new investment opportunities.
- Support in various process improvement projects.
- Leverage data analytics, automation tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve workflows, enhance analysis, and increase team productivity.
- Identify opportunities to streamline recurring processes, synthesize information more effectively, and improve reporting through innovative use of technology.
- Stay current on emerging AI and data capabilities and proactively evaluate practical applications within the investment and credit analysis process.
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related analytical discipline.
- 1-3 years of professional experience in investment analysis, credit analysis, financial services, consulting, data analytics, or other analytical roles.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks within deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate with multiple team members.
- Experience in investment research or credit analysis considered an asset.
- Ability to analyze complex financial models preferred.
- Demonstrated curiosity and practical experience experimenting with AI tools, automation, data visualization, or workflow optimization in academic, professional, or personal projects.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Power BI, Python-based analytical tools, or similar technologies) to enhance productivity, research, analysis, or reporting is considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a willingness to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Progress toward a professional designation (e.g., CFA) is considered an asset. Equivalent experience demonstrating strong analytical thinking, investment acumen, data literacy, or the practical application of AI and emerging technologies will be equally valued.

The base salary for this position is between $57,100.00 - $85,600.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
