Head of Investment Data & Analytics

The Head of Investment Data & Analytics is a new global role to champion Great West Lifeco's Investment Data &Analytics function.   This leader and team will be responsible for defining and executing an overall investment data strategy and collaborating with our regional organizations to align with broader organizational data strategies.   This leader will be responsible for overseeing all investment data governance, engineering, architecture and analytics for the global investment organization.

What you will do:

Data Strategy

• Develop a vision and architecture for investment data and develop strategies to deliver that vision. 
• Ensure alignment with broader data strategies across affiliates.  
• Consider and implement appropriate data sourcing strategies that meet needs of internal customers. 
• Consider what innovative technologies, tools and resources are needed to use data more effectively.

Data Operations

• Provide ownership of the investment data platform and manage the daily operations of the data platform with a view to providing a reliable day-to-day service (within internal customer SLAs)

Data Solutions Delivery

• Champion the investment data platform usage across the organization.  
• Plan, develop and execute on the roadmap of data solutions (insight delivery, reporting, predictive analytics, automation, self-service) that focus on the business benefits and value delivery.
• Develop a high-performing team of data professionals, provide coaching, mentoring and feedback while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning

Analytics and Insight

• Develop investment organization capabilities around analytics and insight. 
• Develop self-service reporting capabilities for the investment organization and internal customers where appropriate.

Data Culture

• Lead on developing the investment data governance and culture. 
• Ensure the perceived value of data as a strategic asset is continually maintained and developed.
• Assess investment data literacy levels and create/curate content to increase data literacy.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and compliance rules across the organization

Key Shared Accountabilities

• Align regulatory and compliance roadmaps and industry trends with data protection activities and processes
• Align data roadmaps, collaborate with lessons learned, resolve challenges and advance ideas
• Collaboration with market data administration team to ensure data is properly sourced and licensed and is also most cost-effective for the organization

What you will bring:

• Strategic Planning: Should have or will need to develop a strong understanding of investment division business process across the globe
• Service Delivery Skills: Will need to service and deliver investment data & analytics process to investment data users across the organization.
• Technology Ownership Skills: Will be the “owner” of the investment data platform and will maintain relationship with application vendor and oversee application upgrades
• Management Skills: Will manage and mentor staff; Will collaborate with internal teams across regions/subsidiaries to address data and data analytics needs and ensure smooth data workflows
• Bachelor’s degree
• 10-15 years’ experience
• CFA preferred
