Our Technology PMO Practice & Portfolio Governance team is looking to hire a Director, PMO Practice who will report to the Assistant Vice President Strategy, Portfolio Management & Governance.
In this role, you will be accountable drive process optimization, governance improvements, and strategic alignment, ensuring adoption of industry best practices and enabling informed decision-making through robust reporting and KPI measurement.
What you will do
Optimize Delivery Framework & Governance:
- Enhance our delivery framework and governance processes with a forward looking mindset—driving efficiency, scalability, and alignment with industry best practices
- Design, implement, and continuously refine core project delivery processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and alignment with industry trends and best practices
- Ensures the methodologies evolve consistently with organizational directions, compliance requirements and other technology processes
- Lead enhancements across key PDLC/TPMO areas, including the Playbook, budget management, capacity management, gating, and financial management
- Drive end to end process reengineering initiatives to streamline delivery
- Facilitate cross functional process mapping and optimization workshops to improve clarity and reduce friction
- Establish and promote consistent project and program management standards, tools, and templates
- Support compliance with standards and recommend frameworks that strengthen governance and delivery effectiveness
Drive Portfolio Transparency & Strategic Alignment:
- Ensure the portfolio is aligned to Technology and Canada Life strategic outcomes by validating that prioritized initiatives deliver measurable value. Support informed decision making through clear metrics, KPI tracking, and a reliable single source of truth
- Portfolio Planning & Performance Reporting
- Oversee development of enterprise portfolio dashboards, reports, and performance insights
- Measure and communicate project health, progress, and realized benefits
- Establish and refine reporting processes for key TPMO deliverables to ensure stakeholder clarity and alignment
- Partner with leaders to drive TPMO tool adoption and standardization to enable consistent, streamlined reporting
- Lead and support portfolio level planning cycles, introducing metrics that improve transparency and support investment prioritization and resource allocation decisions
- Support annual planning activities and ensure alignment to strategic roadmaps and enterprise outcomes
What you will bring

You will have demonstrated a high level of innovation, the ability to utilize and implement best practices, as well as creating new ways of working

Extensive experience in process re-design

5+ years’ experience in business technology to support digital journies, business operations and data insights

Experience working in a large, complex enterprise organization, preferably a Financial Institution

Experience in Project Portfolio Management and software development life cycle

Product experience on intake and adoption patterns
-
B. Comp. Science or Engineering degree; or equivalent work experience

The base salary for this position is between $128,200 - $178,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
