Canada Life is seeking a Director, Technical Solutions to provide senior technical leadership within our Data, Automation, and Platform organization.
This role is accountable for the health, stability, and delivery integrity of foundational technology capabilities that enable digital experiences across the enterprise. These capabilities underpin advisor and clientfacing solutions and must remain resilient, scalable, and wellgoverned while continuously evolving.
This is a handson leadership role. The successful candidate will operate comfortably in complexity, bring clarity where ambiguity exists, and ensure that operational discipline and delivery outcomes remain tightly connected.
What you will do:
Own Platform Health and Delivery Integrity

Be accountable for the end-to-end technical health, resilience, and operability of data, automation, and platform capabilities and applications.

Lead health, maintenance, and incident forums to ensure operational risks are visible, ownership is clear, and remediation plans are explicit.

Act as the decision authority when delivery commitments conflict with platform stability.

Ensure alignment with Canada Life operational excellence, risk, and service expectations.
Lead Delivery with Discipline

Provide leadership across continuous delivery and enhancement work for shared platforms and enabling capabilities.

Balance operational stability, regulatory obligations, and evolving business demand.

Approve, defer, or shape resequencing work to protect delivery integrity and platform/application resilience.

Enforce readiness, gating, and commitment discipline before delivery promises are made.
Integrate Across the Enterprise

Act as a connective leader across Data, Automation, Platform Engineering, Architecture, Product, and Delivery teams.

Proactively manage cross-team dependencies, sequencing conflicts, and late-emerging constraints.

Surface trade-offs early and drive explicit, risk-aware decisions when priorities compete.

Prevent unresolved enterprise decisions from manifesting as operational risk.
Shape Sustainable Platform Capabilities

Contribute to defining and strengthening enterprise data, automation, and platform capabilities.

Ensure platforms evolve with clear architectural direction, active technical debt management, and long-term sustainability.

Balance near-term delivery pressure with foundational health, scalability, and resilience.
Lead Hybrid Delivery Models

Lead teams composed of Canada Life employees and external delivery partners operating under formal commercial agreements.

Hold partners accountable for delivery quality, adherence to standards, and sustainable outcomes.

Ensure speed and automation do not compromise resilience, governance, or risk posture.
Build Trust and Influence

Serve as a trusted technical leader and advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders.

Translate complex technical and operational realities into clear options and recommendations.

Lead with professionalism, empathy, and accountability in potentially in high-pressure situations.

Foster collaboration while maintaining a high bar for outcomes and quality.

What you will bring
Required

Senior technical leadership experience in complex, regulated environments.

Proven ability to lead platformcentric, enabling capabilities (data, automation, platforms).

Strong grounding in operational risk management, delivery governance, and modern engineering practices.

Demonstrated ability to influence across teams without relying on formal authority.

A pragmatic, valuesdriven leadership style with a strong sense of ownership.
Preferred

Experience leading data platforms, automation practices, or shared enterprise platforms.

Experience with hybrid internal and external delivery models.

Exposure to enterprise architecture, modernization, or largescale transformation initiatives.

The base salary for this position is between $120,000.00 - $155,000.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
