The Director and Human Resource Business Partner will provide consultative and strategic support and service to executive level business/function leaders to support the development and delivery of people solutions that align to the vision and strategies of the company.
This role will report to an Assistant Vice President level business partner and work directly with senior executives (EVP, SVP and VP level roles). This position supports complex client groups where senior leaders require a high level of strategic HR partnership to effectively manage their portfolio.
Accountabilities:
- Provide HR related advice and coaching to assigned client groups and business leaders (typically ranging from VP to EVP level) on matters related to HR policy or practices, workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, compensation, structures and organizational effectiveness, employee engagement etc.
- Provide overall day-to-day leadership and direction as needed and provide coordinated HR service delivery to their clients.
- Elevate people leadership capabilities by providing advice, support and coaching to senior level people leaders on all people and talent matters (i.e. leadership, team facilitation…etc.).
- Provide counsel and support to senior leaders on work and employee engagement related issues.
- Partner with employee relations on escalations of employee issues and engage with ER&S experts to support complex employee issue resolution (all formal complaints, complaints at Director level or above, and any complaint involving external representation will be automatically escalated).
- Identify people related issues/themes across client groups and address these through recommendations and mitigation strategies to their business leaders.
- Lead annual HR processes for supported client groups (i.e. talent management, Performance Management, Compensation, Engagement Action Planning).
- Participate and in some cases lead on project teams and/or develop and/or implement small and large scale HR projects to the business in partnership with the HR Centers of Expertise.
- Participate in cross-line business HR committees and councils to share best practices, lessons learned and collaborate on initiatives.
- Create and implement to talent plans for the business/function supported (e.g., diagnostics of organizational health, key business/function needs and opportunities; strategies for recruitment, retention and development of talent pools; organizational effectiveness plans including development of strategic capabilities; elevating overall talent bench for supported businesses/functions).
- Act as a second point of HR contact for business leaders to ensure leaders always have availability of a senior HR leader.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Extensive experience as an HR business partner.
- Post Secondary degree; CHRP is an asset.
- The incumbent must be perceived as a trusted and credible advisor to Executives and Senior HR colleagues.
- Proactively identify people related issues and opportunities and provide targeted HR solutions to address key business priorities.
- Impeccable drive to implement HR strategies and programs for the business drive projects forward.
- Driven to grow talent and improve organizational capabilities.
- Experience providing people leadership to the Senior HR Advisors and Global HR team members within their team.
- Has an entrepreneurial mindset and approaches business issues with creativity and focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong business acumen – understanding the business strategies and plans, external environment, and talent implications.
- Highly proficient in employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Proficient across a breadth of HR disciplines and expertise, and the ability to apply that knowledge to specific needs and opportunities.
- Strong project and change management experience.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and impact and influencing skills.
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (fluent in French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients wiht French and English-speaking needs.
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg, or Montreal. Our Human Resources team works on a hybrid schedule 3-days in-office per week.

The base salary for this position is between $128,200 - $178,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
