Director, Digital Technology Strategy & Execution
The Digital Delivery & Platforms team is a critical enabler of Canada Life’s future. We are responsible for modernizing how we deliver digital experiences, platforms, and capabilities across the enterprise—spanning customer, advisor, operations, and employee journeys.
The Director, Digital Technology Strategy & Execution will play a pivotal role shaping Canada Life’s enterprise digital strategy, with a strong focus on AI-led transformation, platform modernization, and customer-led experience design. This role will define the why, what, and how of Canada Life’s digital future—identifying opportunities, crafting a compelling vision, and translating strategy into actionable, value-driven roadmaps.
This role reports to the Assistant Vice-President, Digital Strategy & Design and will engage regularly with VPs, SVPs, and executive leadership across the enterprise.
What you will do
- Define the Enterprise digital technology strategy for Canada Life, with a strong emphasis on AI, automation, platforms, and experience transformation.
- Develop a clear technology vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap aligning business ambition with technology enablement.
- Identify target state platforms and technology to achieve ambitions
- Work closely with Enterprise Architecture to define target state architecture and solution designs
- Translate strategy into actionable plans including investment cases, value hypotheses, delivery sequencing, and success metrics.
- Partner closely with Business, Operations, Technology, Data, Architecture, Security, Risk, and Legal teams.
- Lead diagnostics, market scans, and competitive benchmarking.
- Provide fact-based, analytical insights to inform executive decision-making.
- Support creation of executive- and board-level materials.
- Ensure strategy translates into measurable outcomes and roadmap.
What you will bring
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to influence decision making
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and plan seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, senior leaders, and external partners
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technology leading complex architecture and solutions in a range of industries including banking/financial services
- Previous hands-on experience as developer or technical lead
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working within the digital landscape and/or in an IT role
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a stakeholder relationship manager or equivalent experience
- Proven experience leading or working on digital transformation projects
- Experience in Operations/Sales division with a top Canadian life insurance carrier and/or MGA is an asset

The base salary for this position is between $114,000 - $164,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
