Business Systems Analyst (Student Position)

This is a student position that is 4 months in duration for the term: September-December. You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University. 

This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.

We are looking for a self-motivated curious Business Systems Analyst Student who is looking to enhance their analytical skillsets in the Life and Disability Group Insurance Team. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, requiring the candidate to work on-site at our office three times a week. 

Canada Life’s Workplace Solutions Technology team works collaboratively with our business and IT partners developing and supporting technology strategies and roadmaps enabling the successful delivery of strategic business and IT goals.  

 

What you will do   

  • Working closely with a coach/mentor in a hybrid work environment, you will get an amazing opportunity to build your networking skillsets with leaders in our Canadian Technology organization 
  • You will play an active role in supporting Life and Disability project initiatives which includes process and data analysis that will help support architecture assessment and design. 
  • Work on a variety of Life and Disability application systems that are used by the Group Customer organization within Canada Life 
  • Contribute learning from education experience to practical process improvement opportunities.  

 

What will you be using?  

You will be digging into applications with the following tech stack:  

  • APIs 
  • MS SQL 
  • VB6 
  • IBM Filenet Content Manager 
  • IBM Workflow Management 

 

What you will bring   

  • In process of completing a relevant post secondary education within a Computer Science/Engineering discipline  
  • Business Administration minor (considered an asset) 
  • Proficiency in MS Visio, MS PowerPoint, and familiarity with other applications in the MS Office suite  
  • Effective oral and written communication skills   
  • Are a team player, and have solid teamwork / collaboration skills  
  • Have strong analysis and problem-solving skills  
  • Are self motivated to learn new technologies and applications  
  • Can manage and report on the status of individual tasks

The base salary for this position is between  $46,900 - $70,400 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
