Account Executive, Group Retirement

Reporting to the National Accounts Director, the Account Executive will be responsible for the maintenance of productive relationships with Consultants and clients, acquisition of new business, and management of accounts of an in‑force business portfolio. The successful candidate will work with a team to reach or exceed the objectives–sales and growth of our business. The management of these targets requires great decision‑making ability, initiative, and creativity within a team.
What you will do:
- Develop and implement business plans to achieve annual sales targets through new and existing client relationships
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with national consulting houses
- Accountable for the management of the sales process from request for proposal to finalist presentations
- Work closely with consultants, plan sponsors, the field implementation manager and client relationship staff to ensure client satisfaction through our new business implementation process
- Work collaboratively with the GRS management team and other senior account executives in the consultant market to ensure Canada Life’s success in this market
- Promote additional products and services with consultants, clients and client relationship managers to enhance client retention
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education along with the Retirement Plan Associate designation (CEBS) and RPA Primer
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial services industry with specific knowledge of the Group Retirement Savings segment
- Exceptional relationship building skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on negotiation skills and public speaking
- Superior presentation skills with an ability to present investment and retirement planning topics to consultants, pension committees and plan sponsors
- Demonstrated skills as a collaborator, negotiator and partner with business areas internal and external so that client and consultant objectives are met
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing several priorities, meeting tight deadlines
- A strong sense of urgency in meeting/exceeding commitments to internal and external stakeholders
- Effective time management and strong problem-solving skills
- Quick thinking and creative
- Sound working knowledge of MS Office products
- Requires vehicle and flexibility for travel
- Background in financial services industry

The base salary for this position is between $68,700 - $114,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
