We are looking for an Assistant Vice-President, AI Enablement

The role of the AVP AI Enablement is to bring technology leadership with a business mindset to help spearhead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide AI strategy, fostering AI adoption and governance while prioritizing high-impact use cases to drive value across the organization.  This role will help shape the AI agenda at Canada Life by engaging stakeholders, empowering teams, and ensuring that AI initiatives are compliant, secure, and in alignment with the organization's broader goals.  This is a role for an individual that is excited to collaborate across business and technology teams to push the envelope on where AI can be applied in support of Canada Life’s business strategic priorities, and someone that is action biased and business outcome oriented.

 

What you will do:

  • Establish and lead the AI Enablement team, as well as providing strategic, subject matter expertise leadership in support of business teams; lead standing AI enablement and governance meetings, bringing together leaders from across CL
  • Provide thought leadership and execute a forward-looking AI vision and strategy in alignment with the organization’s long-term goals
  • Provide delivery leadership including foster strong engagement with leadership, business and technology stakeholders; ensure clear communication of AI strategic objectives and progress / results
  • Provide execution leadership including collaborate across business and technology teams to manage and prioritize organization-wide AI use cases and demand, emphasizing those with the most strategic value
  • Define and implement efficient processes for building, operating, and supporting AI solutions, including effective measurement and reporting
  • Adapt and evolve the AI operating model, delivery model and support model across Canada Life as the organization mature and scale in advancing AI
  • Incubate new ways of developing and using AI in support of business and technology use cases
  • Serve as a trusted partner and product owner to define, champion, and operationalize AI services and technology platform
  • Build the strategy and roadmap for AI competency development across CL; champion AI learning and development programs to enhance organizational competency and foster AI adoption
  • Establish, implement, and evolve a robust AI governance framework in collaboration with functional and oversight leaders to support risk management and accelerate AI adoption
  • Establish relationships across Great West Lifeco to collaborate, share learnings, and help strategically advance AI within Canada Life
  • Coach and mentor team members to achieve and surpass personal and team objectives and help them in their career plans

 

What you will bring:

  • You hold a University degree in Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of at least 7 – 10 years in AI / ML / Advanced Analytics strategy development, deployment, and governance, including successful implementation of AI related projects in a leadership role
  • You have experience in designing, implementing, and supporting hub-and-spoke operating models
  • You have a product and service mindset that is focused on meeting the needs of our internal stakeholders, our customers, advisors, and shareholders
  • You have an excellent understanding of product development lifecycle, and versed in agile delivery frameworks
  • Business acumen and the capability to align AI initiatives with the organization's broader strategic goals
  • Knowledgeable in data governance and ethical considerations in AI, as well as knowledge of AI legal and regulatory aspects
  • You have a track record of collaboration and influence when working in cross-functional teams in a highly complex organization, ability to lead and foster collaborative relationships, engage, and inspire the right outcome through partnerships and mutual respect
  • You are excited to develop high performing teams, and can lead, mentor, and influence junior talent
  • You have previous experience in a large enterprise environment in a regulated industry
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with the latest AI trends and emerging technologies

The base salary for this position is between  $108,300 - $200,400 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
