As a Sales Director, you will play a key leadership role in delivering on this purpose by leading a high-performing team of Account Executives focused on growing our small and large group benefits business in the Ottawa market. You will drive strong business results through thoughtful leadership, a client-centric approach, and meaningful partnerships with advisors, clients, and internal teams.
What you will do
Lead and develop a high-performing team
- Provide coaching, mentorship and day-to-day guidance to Account Executives, including support on complex client situations and escalations
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative and performance-driven team environment
- Support individual and team development to build capability and drive engagement
Deliver on business goals
- Execute regional sales strategies and quarterly business plans in alignment with the Regional Vice President
- Drive growth and retention across both small and large group benefits segments
- Monitor performance against key metrics and take action to ensure targets are achieved
Build strong relationships
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with advisors, clients, and internal partners
- Collaborate closely with regional service teams to deliver an exceptional and consistent client experience
- Partner with head office teams on initiatives that support business growth and innovation
Lead the sales process
- Guide and support your team through the full sales cycle, from RFP to finalist presentations to implementation
- Ensure a seamless transition from sale to onboarding and ongoing account management
- Maintain a small portfolio of large or complex clients, where required, to support strategic opportunities
Enhance client value and retention
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling additional products and services
- Work with advisors and internal partners to strengthen long-term relationships and improve client outcomes
- Ensure client needs are understood and consistently exceeded
Drive strategic thinking and innovation
- Bring forward market insights and contribute to the development of new solutions
- Anticipate trends and identify opportunities to strengthen our competitive position
- Champion a client-first mindset and support change initiatives across the region
What you will bring
- 5+ years of Group benefits leadership experience
- Demonstrated success leading or coaching sales teams
- Strong understanding of group benefits products and funding arrangements
- Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- English is required; bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
- Strong relationship-building and business development skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate insights into action
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills and a client-focused approach that builds trust and long-term partnerships
- A commitment to continuous improvement and personal growth and able to bring people together to achieve shared goals
- A balanced approach to performance, using data, insight and judgment
- An openness to new ideas and perspectives, and a willingness to lead through change
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Ability to travel within the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario region

The base salary for this position is between $121,000 - $171,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
