Senior Director Mortgage Origination

Reporting to the Senior Managing Director of Origination, the primary responsibility of the Senior Director role is the origination, underwriting and commitment of new commercial mortgage loans primarily in the Greater Montreal Area and Atlantic provinces.  This senior position involves analyzing, recommending and presenting potential commercial mortgage opportunities to senior management.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Originate, negotiate, underwrite and recommend new ICI mortgage loans to align with Company investment policies, procedures, in order to meet or exceed annually determined individual and team mew business targets
  • Direct the preliminary underwriting for new loans to obtain senior management agreement prior to proceeding with the transaction
  • Prepare and negotiate term sheets and prepare commitment letters confirming financial terms and conditions as approved by the Company
  • Ensure all terms and conditions of commitment letters have been satisfied working in association with the Mortgage Administration/Documentation team
  •  Knowledge of commercial real estate market conditions, emerging trends, development and maintenance of profile in the market and awareness of market competition
  • Ensure yield requirements and risk management in compliance with investment policies

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bilingualism (fluent in French and English) required, as the position will regularly serve our clients with English and French-speaking need
  • Post secondary degree in business, finance or real estate or equivalent combination of education and experience. Enrollment in or completion of an MBA, CFA program or A.A.C.I. real estate appraisal program would be an asset
  • 5 - 10 years experience in commercial real estate.  Direct commercial mortgage lending experience preferred
  • Good understanding of commercial valuation methodology, financial statement review, credit, and real estate market and real property analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel) and Power Point

 

This position will be located in the Montreal head office.

The base salary for this position is between  $119,300 - $ 169,300 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
