Are you detail-oriented, organized, and looking to build experience in the insurance and financial services space? Join our team as an Underwriting Associate, where you’ll play an important role supporting medical underwriting operations during an exciting system transformation.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment - while contributing to work that helps protect the financial and health well-being of customers.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll support our Medical Underwriting team by managing and preparing customer correspondence. While this is not a decision-making underwriting role, your work is essential to ensuring accurate, timely, and professional communication with customers and partners.
You’ll be part of a team transitioning to a new system, gaining exposure to both current and future tools and processes along the way.
What You’ll Do:
- Review case files for underwriter comments/instructions, in addition to policy specific handling notes, in an effort to draft tailored correspondence letters from a large variety of MS Word letter templates
- Confirm accuracy of letter details (addresses, names, instructions) to prevent breaches of privacy
- Print letters for mailing and/or email letters to external policyholders and other internal administrative departments
- Close or pend case files in underwriting system according to underwriter comments/instructions
What You Bring:
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience working with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and comfortably navigate technology
- Accurate typing skills (30+ WPM with high accuracy)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet daily deadlines
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team
- Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
Nice to have:
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (fluent in French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs.
Work Environment & Details
- 6-month contract (with potential for extension depending on business needs)
- Hybrid work model – typically 1 day per week in the office (more during initial training)
- Structured training provided, including system and process onboarding
- Opportunity to gain experience within a leading financial services organization

The base salary for this position is between $41,000 - $51,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
