Effective people analytics and insight will radically improve the way we identify, attract, develop, and retain talent at Canada Life.
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Talent Analytics & Insights who blends technical analytics expertise with a strong understanding of Talent processes including talent assessment, succession planning, skills analysis, workforce planning, and executive reporting.
This role will own key Talent datasets, ensuring they are structured, maintained, analyzed, and communicated in ways that enable HR partners and senior leaders to make high-impact decisions. The successful candidate will work with diverse and sometimes complex data sources, shaping insights into clear narratives, executive-ready and Board presentations, and data-driven recommendations.
This role is a strategic analytics partner embedded in: Enterprise talent review cycles, succession planning, leadership pipeline health and workforce planning.
What you will do:
Deliver talent & people analytics projects:
- Design analytics for talent review and succession planning; analyze performance, potential, and readiness trends. Track executive headcount and movement of high potentials and successors
- Own talent analytics datasets—clean, integrate, structure, and maintain data coming from multiple HR systems and sources
- Build and maintain succession dashboards for critical roles and track: ready now/ready later pipeline depth, internal fill rate
- Translate business growth plans into capability and headcount scenarios
- Develop and maintain appropriate HR/talent benchmarks from other relevant organizations providing an external lens of comparison
Advance HR reporting, analytics, and insights capabilities and offerings:
- Build and evolve reporting and dashboards using Power BI, Excel, and SQL
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline talent reporting processes
- Assess data and technology needs and collaborate with partners to advance analytics maturity
- Stay current on emerging analytics tools and talent analytics trends
- Drive consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data
Develop executive-ready insights & presentations:
- Translate complex analysis into compelling, clear insights and narratives
- Create streamlined processes to transition talent data from SuccessFactors to Excel for use by the Global Talent team
- Build presentations highlighting trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations
- Present insights to executive audiences with confidence and clarity
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline – math, statistics, business/human resources, computer science, or a similar qualified technical discipline
- Certification and/or training in human resources, business analysis, project management, and/or Lean Six Sigma would be considered an asset
- Experience and subject matter expertise in HR, talent management, or workforce analytics
- Experience supporting executive-level talent reviews is preferred

As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (fluent in French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Power BI and advanced Excel
- Experience working with databases and multi-source data; SQL proficiency, Python/R familiarity is an asset
- HRIS systems (SAP/SuccessFactors)
- Ability to model and structure complex datasets
Analytical & Storytelling Skills
- Exceptional ability to interpret data and extract insights
- Skilled in creating executive-ready presentations
- Comfortable presenting to senior audiences
HR Talent Knowledge
- Understanding of Talent practices such as talent assessments, succession planning, and leadership development

- Strong ability to work with HR leaders, business partners, and technical teams

The base salary for this position is between $68,400 - $113,900 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
