Product & Model Specialist

Description:

Permanent Full Time

-

We’re looking for a Product & Model Specialist to join our Non-Participating Insurance (Non-Par) Product Management team in a role at the intersection of insurance product management, data, modelling, and systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong mathematical and technical abilities who is looking for meaningful accountability that directly impacts policyholder outcomes. You’ll build deep expertise across both the technical and product sides of insurance.

What you will do

This role spans three core pillars, offering variety, challenge, and opportunity to build deep technical and product expertise.

1. Non Par Inforce Management Support

  • Own the end to end process for applying interest crediting to Universal Life (UL) investment accounts
  • Support regular UL inforce activities, including data collection, validation and analysis
  • Provide analytical support on ad hoc projects and investigations across UL, Term, and legacy insurance blocks where data insight is required to support decision-making

2. Insurance Illustration Model Support

  • Maintain and enhance complex Excel/Visual Basic (VBA) based insurance illustration models that demonstrate Non-Par and Participating (Par) insurance product mechanics and deliver client-facing output.
  • Provide technical support to illustration users, including system access, functionality and user interface
  • Work hands on with complex formulas and VBA to improve model robustness and efficiency

3. Ownership of Administration System Calculation Engine

  • Take ownership of a core product calculation engine that directly impacts policyholder values and product performance within our policy administration system
  • Support, test, and validate calculations related to premiums, dividends, tax exempt testing, and other policy level administration requirements
  • Investigate calculation issues, resolve defects, and support new product launches and feature enhancements

What you will bring

  • Strong intellectual curiosity — you seek to understand, improve, and strengthen processes, not just execute tasks
  • Strong mathematical foundation with demonstrated analytical problem solving skills
  • Advanced Excel/VBA experience, including the ability to trace complex formulas, understand calculation logic, and build or modify macros and VBA code
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output
  • Comfort owning processes end to end and taking accountability for outcomes
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate across business, technical and investment teams
  • Experience in insurance is an asset, particularly with Non Par and/or Par products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field
