This is a 6-Month Temporary Position*
Our award-winning enterprise Learning and Development (L&D) team is looking for an Instructional Designer (ID). This is a 6-month contract role, reporting to Associate Manager, Instructional Design and Delivery. It is a hybrid role (3 days a week in the office) and can be based out of Canada Life’s London, Montreal, Toronto or our Winnipeg campuses in Canada.
As an ID, you will design, develop, implement and/or measure employee and people leader initiatives aligned to the learning, performance, and strategic needs of the organization. You will engage with project/initiative teams to help develop, execute, and sustain organizational change required for Canada Life and its employees to succeed. This role will be focused on supporting enterprise and HR learning and performance initiatives.
What you will do:
- Participate in strategic learning initiatives, including defining/validating appropriate success measures, reviewing needs assessment, developing plans to achieve, and managing all elements of the learning solution.
- Collaborate with senior leaders, subject matter experts, project stakeholders, L&P Operations, instructional designers, and senior learning consultants to create relevant solutions.
- Create instructional materials, presentations, digital modules, and job aids using tools such as MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Copilot), Articulate, Vyond, Camtasia, SnagIt, and Canva.
- Maintain a keen understanding of learning trends, developments, and best practices.
- Drive and deliver operational excellence through sustainable program recommendations, formalized maintenance strategies, measurement and evaluation strategies.
- Test and implement learning solutions in partnership with L&D team members, including accessibility and LMS testing.
- Support the team in the related L&D events and initiatives.
What you will bring:
- 3+ years of experience working in a corporate or L&D environment, concentrated around learning, performance and/or learning project/program management.
- Strong instructional design background, or experience designing learning and performance support assets.
- Strong graphic/visual design skills, ideally with experience designing in tools such as Articulate 360, Canva, Vyond, etc. Experience with Microsoft applications is expected (PowerPoint, Word, Teams etc.)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to effectively coordinate multiple deadlines.
- Work independently while embracing opportunities for collaboration with the L&D team and stakeholders.
- Strong writing skills, ability to write in plain language, aligned to the learning modality.
- Ideal education includes a post-secondary Degree/Diploma in HR Management, Business Administration, or related field. A specialized learning and/or certificate (i.e. CTP/CTDP) is an asset.
- Experience in supporting HR or enterprise-wide projects is an asset.
- Proven passion/interest in learning-related topics and activities, being a lifelong learner, with a drive for self-growth.

The base salary for this position is between $62,800 - $104,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
