We are looking for an AVP, Central Services and Strategy.
We are seeking an AVP, Central Services and Strategy to join our Canadian Operations leadership team. Canada Operations represents our largest team at Canada Life with over 5,000 staff supporting all lines of business in Canada. This team is an exciting growth area as we add new technology, capabilities and unlock strategic opportunity in our operations area as a tailwind for the Canadian business.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of executive function, project management and delivery, leading large teams and coordinating across complex environments and will lead our Canada Operations group in 4 distinct areas:
1. Building our Canada wide infrastructure and vendor relationships across Mail, Print, Storage, Scanning, Index, Triage, Retention, Destruction, and Workflow
2. Managing our Offshore location in India and supporting the growth of that site by partnering and ideating with business units on how offshore support can enhance their service levels, productivity and unit costs. Problem solving any unique challenges related to offshoring and collaborating to overcome those challenges.
3. Building Centres of Excellence across various capabilities in our Central Services including elements like Forms.
4. Supporting our broader strategy in Canada Operations by participating in ad hoc projects, strategic forums and cross company initiatives that enhance our Canada Operations value proposition and demonstrate GRIT!
What you will do:

Acts as key thought leader in identifying and developing opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and quality of the service experience, working with other business leaders to implement change

Responsible for the emergency Business Continuity Plan (BCP)

Ensure appropriate analysis and reporting is done such that Operational Managers, Senior Management, Group Financial Management and other stakeholders have a clear picture of performance, trends and outlooks.

Identify opportunities to enhance data management and system capabilities to facilitate improved reporting capabilities and operational effectiveness

Ensure all service levels and expectations are consistently met

Coordinate and manage variance reporting for all electronic claims and fees

Manage the expense budget and management process

Provide information and value-added insight and analysis which enables effective operational management

Identify expense control opportunities
-
Ensure robust financial systems, financial internal controls and financial processes across all group benefits

Ensure Quality program supports achievement of morbidity/earnings goals, customer service goals, and operational effectiveness goals

Collaborate with other Strategic Health Practices leaders in creating and maintaining training, systems, and tools

Responsible for third party audit process and external quality reporting

Provide oversight for the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance policies and procedures (OSFI, internal audit, Anti-money laundering, terrorist match list, privacy)

Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

Work with Internal and External auditors to ensure proper financial controls are in place.
What you will bring:

10+ years of insurance, finance or investment leadership experience
-
Strong communication skills to drive relations with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (vendors, partners, senior leadership, etc.)

Excellent people leadership skills to motivate, drive, and lead a broad team through a constantly evolving and complex environment
-
Highly motivated with the ability to lead and make collaborative decisions in a fast-paced highly regulated entity

Experience leading and driving a variety of project initiatives, ideally with a focus on offshore teams, vendor relationships and business infrastructure
-
Strong attention to detail and time management skills to lead the delivery of multiple deliverables at the same time
-
Ability to anticipate, analyze, and clearly articulate complex projects, initiatives, and assignments efficiently and effectively

Adaptability within a changing and evolving environment
-
Strategic mindset and ability to think across multiple horizons and integrate themes and capabilities in to a broader delivery plan

An executor – someone who can take charge and deliver on projects and initiatives at scale

A data driven approach that captures relevant and timely information and can present a robust fact based approach to problem solving and managing their team and the broader business

The base salary for this position is between $111,000 - $205,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
