This is an excellent opportunity for a solution-focused, results-oriented individual contributor with an ownership mindset to apply their Group Retirement Savings (GRS) industry expertise to the development of savings products and solutions in the Canadian market. 

Reporting to the AVP, GRS Product Development, the Manager role acts as an individual contributor and is a key player in defining and delivering on the GRS long term product shelf strategy with the goal of identifying opportunities and effectively meeting the identified market needs of both existing and potential new Sponsors in the marketplace. 

The Manager will be responsible for providing Leadership with insights and opportunities, while taking a hands-on approach to product management and execution. This includes influencing across the organization and leading the successful delivery of projects and initiatives to advance the GRS department’s strategic objectives and achieve strong outcomes.

Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, a commitment to teamwork, and a hands-on approach to both day-to-day product management and the end-to-end development process—from identifying opportunities and concept design through to successful launch and ongoing product management.   

 

Accountabilities: 

  • Proactively identify and develop new product opportunities and strategic enhancements to the GRS product shelf, informed by market trends, data insights, and stakeholder input
  • Proactively source and analyze data from multiple sources to uncover trends, build projections, and provide insights that shape product development and performance
  • Take the lead on the identification/investigation of requirements related to the GRS products shelf, alternative solutions and research projects
  • Responsible for all aspects of the product development process including research, design, operational assessment, development, implementation and ongoing management
  • Take an ownership mindset of the GRS product shelf, addressing product-related issues through root cause analysis, solution development, and leading implementation
  • Manage the day-to-day performance and administration of products, including monitoring reporting, supporting new plan setups, and evaluating plan design to ensure alignment with target sponsor segments
  • Building relationships with impacted business areas across the division to obtain buy-in, determine optimal solutions and guide implementation of new products and solutions
  • Plan and lead impactful product launch go-to-market plans, as well as ongoing product support to business development partners to ensure the ongoing success of the product shelf

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Deep knowledge of Group Retirement Savings products (pension plans, RRSPs, DPSPs, TFSAs, RRIFs/LIFs etc)
  • Extensive insight into industry trends, pressures, and challenges, with a strong grasp of the Canadian employer landscape, workforce demographics, and advisor/consultant partnerships
  • Forward thinking and adaptable, with a proven ability to challenge the status quo, proactively drive continuous improvement and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Data-driven mindset with strong Excel capabilities; able to work with data to uncover trends, build projections, and deepen insights beyond standard reporting to support and inform product and strategy decisions
  • Hands-on experience managing products or programs, including actively monitoring performance, working through product issues, supporting plan setup, implementing solutions, and assessing plan design and client fit
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; required to develop relationships across the GRS business as well as field partners, clients, and advisors
  • Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to convey complex information, requirements, and issues clearly to both internal and external audiences
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes

The base salary for this position is between $102,000 - $152,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
