Manager, FATCA/CRS Governance

 

Canada Life is seeking a Manager, FATCA/CRS to provide Canadian enterprise leadership and subject matter expertise for Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standards (CRS) compliance across Canada Life and its subsidiaries.

 

The Product Tax team serves as the organizational lead for FATCA/CRS interpretation, guiding dissemination of legislation, shaping industry standards, and supporting a consistent, efficient compliance framework. While day-to-day execution and risk ownership reside within the business units, this role ensures enterprise alignment with Canadian legislation, global standards, and evolving regulatory expectations.

 

 

What You Will Do:

 

  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert on FATCA and CRS, maintaining deep technical expertise in Canadian, U.S., Bermuda, and OECD requirements.
  • Interpret legislation and global standards, assess impacts, and provide clear guidance to business units, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Own and maintain corporate FATCA/CRS policies, ensuring alignment with legislation and disseminating to support consistent application across the organization.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and disseminate updates, influencing required changes to policies, processes, systems, and documentation.
  • Provide technical advisory support for internal stakeholders, including assessment of applicability to new legal entities and product offerings.
  • Lead training initiatives to ensure organizational understanding and readiness.
  • Support internal and external audits, including coordination, issue resolution, and oversight of adherence to legislative requirements.
  • Lead the internal FATCA/CRS working group, fostering collaboration and enterprise alignment.
  • Represent Canada Life externally, engaging with regulators and industry forums and advocating for fair, practical implementation of FATCA and CRS requirements.

 

 

What You Will Bring:

 

  • CPA designation and/or significant tax or compliance experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with insurance and/or wealth products and applicable tax legislation
  • Strong understanding of financial institutions and regulatory operating environments
  • In-depth knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and OECD standards
  • Experience engaging with regulators, industry groups, and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to influence and lead across a matrixed organization
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical guidance
  • Strong communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated track record of driving results and strengthening governance

The base salary for this position is between $102,000 - $152,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
