As the Manager, Data Analytics & Reporting you will join Canada Life’s Canada Operations, Data Analytics and Reporting team. In this role you will support all Canada Operations teams with the ideation, development, implementation, and maintenance of analytics solutions ranging from descriptive and diagnostic to predictive.

 

The Manager, Data Analytics & Reporting is a strategic leader who leverages advanced analytics and statistical techniques to enhance decision making, monitor business performance, provide actionable insights, and drive operational efficiencies. This role involves not only being a data subject matter expert but also guiding and mentoring a team to achieve these objectives.

 

In this role, you will lead a team that will model, analyse, and predict complex business processes.

 

What you will do

  • Lead a team of analysts and senior analysts, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise

  • Foster a positive team dynamic, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to lead and motivate the team, ensuring team success and collaboration

  • Oversee the team in translating business needs into data requirements, building and maintaining data models, custom reports, and dashboards, and working with large, inconsistent datasets to deliver actionable insights to business leaders

  • Act as the technical lead for the team, solving technical questions and recommending best practices and solutions

  • Establish and lead data and analytics solutions review to ensure high-quality standards for all solutions

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to business partners, including executives, operations, technology, and data teams, and project sponsors

  • Improve performance of operations by enabling data informed management practices

  • Lead projects throughout the entire analytics lifecycle and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards

  • Stay abreast of the latest data and analytics tools, methodologies, technology advancements, and best practices

  • Higher order communications, impact and influence, strategic thinking, critical thinking, business and financial acumen

What you will bring

  • 5 years of experience leading data analytics teams, successfully delivering in a fast-paced environment, and a master’s degree in a related field of study

  • Extensive experience in leveraging advanced data analytics tools (SQL, Python, PySpark), managing complex databases, utilising cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks), and creating sophisticated data visualisation solutions (Power BI) to drive business insights and decision-making

  • Proven ability to work with big data and write and optimise complex SQL, Python, and PySpark scripts and to coach and mentor team members in these skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including Data Modelling, Power Query, and DAX, with the ability to coach and mentor team members in developing interactive and insightful dashboards

  • Subject matter expertise in data analytics and statistical modelling

  • Solid project management and agile skillset

  • Ability to monetise and demonstrate ROI for the organisation, showcasing financial benefits and cost savings from analytics work

  • Polished communication and presentation skills to audiences including senior leadership

  • Experience within the Financial Services sector would be an asset

The base salary for this position is between  $74,500.00- $137,900.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
