As part of the Infrastructure and Operations Demand Management team, this role supports the assessment and analysis of requests for cloud consulting, technology infrastructure, application hosting, and technology service acquisition. The Business Systems Consultant helps guide solution decisions, supports business partners through the technology delivery process, and helps navigate governance within a modern operating environment. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role partners with the business as it evolves its technology footprint and advances its transformation to cloud and SaaS delivery models.

 

What you will do:

 

 

Consulting & Advisory:

 

 

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to internal clients by proactively building relationships with the business, colleagues and external stakeholders to understand business as-is state and roadmap.
  • Uses industry consulting methodologies to understand business requests/expected outcomes to translate and document them into requirements, prototypes and/or technical solutions.
  • Works with cloud architects to develop modern architectures using cloud native components.
  • Evaluates current business problems and provides advice on the applicability and usability of alternative technology products or solutions.
  • Leads conversations in ambiguous situations and influences discussions to guide clients to made decisions/ come to resolution on outstanding items/ issues.
  • Facilitates discussions across business, architecture, engineering, security, operations, and vendor teams to align on solution direction and resolve blockers.
  • Ensures requests are appropriately scoped, documented, prioritized, and transitioned into fulfillment teams.
  • Works with businesses to identify prioritization conflicts and proposes alternative solutions or options.
  • Provide inputs in promoting and implementing best-practice solutions for business processes and product capabilities.

 

Technical Collaboration & Execution:

 

  • Leads the end-to-end intake, assessment, and governance process for cloud, infrastructure, SaaS, and technology service requests.
  • Ensures requests move smoothly through the assessment process into fulfillment with high quality outputs.
  • Contributes to the overall analysis, scoping, estimating and planning for technology requests.
  • Rationalizes and documents technology requirements that would match with proposed products/ services to address stakeholder needs.
  • Maintains and enhances the technology service catalogue, service onboarding processes, and supporting documentation.
  • Partners with product and platform teams to onboard new technology services and establish operational support models.
  • Conducts primary financial analysis of proposed solutions/architectures for comparison of alternatives.
  • Identifies opportunities for new solutions to old problems and develops business cases to support changes in the environment

 



Transformation & Continuous Improvement:

 

  • Acts as a change agent by actively promoting the review and implementation of new technologies, methods, practices and tools to evolve I&O Engineering’s product and service offerings.
  • Ensures requests are appropriately scoped, documented, prioritized, and transitioned into fulfillment teams
  • Proactively seeks out and recommends process, automation, and system opportunities to reduce manual effort/time and decrease implementation time.
  • Develops the process and artifact standards to ensure consistent delivery of Intake and Assessment outputs.
  • Fosters a collegial atmosphere by sharing knowledge and experience with members of the team to upskill and guide them on better ways of doing things.
  • Pro-actively acquires new knowledge through online learning/training, knowledge transfers, research and/or external use community to apply innovative thinking to solve problems.
  • Applies a high level of detail to work and consistently looks for ways to improve the quality of a product.

 

 

What you bring:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a systems analyst
  • Experience with cloud technologies and platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Product Model organization
  • Scrum/Agile certifications an asset
  • Experience working in financial industry / insurance is an asset
  • Ability to lead and collaborate a diverse team of engineers, architects and analysts
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking initiative
  • Positive, optimistic attitude - solution oriented focused on improvement
  • A change agent, embraces and promotes change - is excited about adapting new tools and processes
  • Passionate about technology, the user experience and the business, loves to learn and pass on learning to other and champions new ideas

  • Ability to work under pressure, working on multiple projects simultaneously and juggling priorities

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg or remote.

The base salary for this position is between $110,000 - $135,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
