We’re seeking a creative, strategic, and passionate actuarial leader to join our Funds Product Design and Pricing team as Director, Funds Product Design and Pricing. In this role, you’ll help Canada Life achieve its ambitions to be a major player in the individual wealth market. The role has overall responsibility for the design and pricing of segregated funds for the Wealth Solutions strategic business unit, balancing competitiveness and profitability. The Director will drive a solutions-oriented culture to ensure that our product solutions are market competitive and meet the needs of our clients in support of our overall strategy
What you will do
- Develop pricing recommendations for segregated funds by conducting profitability analysis, sensitivity testing, and considering the risk and capital profile of the business
- Support the execution and implementation of product development initiatives such as new fund launches and segregated fund contract enhancements, through collaboration with Product Development, Operations, FM, Finance, Compliance, and Legal
- Provide strategic input and support to the AVP, Funds Product Design & Pricing on product and pricing strategy
- Keep abreast of current markets and investment trends and understand the implications on our products
- Lead the development and maintenance of our pricing models for segregated funds
- Develop actuarial assumptions through experience analysis in collaboration with FM (mortality, lapse, expenses, business mix, investment returns, etc.) and lead the composition of periodic segregated fund pricing reports
- Investigate and develop methods to improve our analytical/modelling capabilities, streamline processes, and enhance documentation
- Periodically review regulatory document filings (contract, information folders, etc.)
- Review and deliberate on exceptions relating to product design, pricing, and product eligibility
- Lead a team of actuarial staff and support their ongoing development objectives, fostering a culture of learning and excellence
What you will bring
- FSA, FCIA or equivalent designation with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Sound business and actuarial judgment, including analytical and problem-solving kills
- A strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen
- Ability to collaborate with others across business units and backgrounds
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement
- A commitment to developing talent and building a high-performing team
- Experience using Moody’s AXIS software
- Experience with funds products is an asset
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following office locations: London, Toronto, Winnipeg

The base salary for this position is between $142,100 - $192,100 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
