Director, Enterprise Data Enablement

As the Director, Enterprise Data Enablement, you will be responsible for enabling cross-business insights and will own the Canada Operations and Business Enablement’s (COBE) alignment to the Enterprise Data Strategy. 

The Director will operate as an enabler, and will partner with our Business Leaders to identify and prioritize cross-business unit data use cases that will deliver measurable value for the organization. Success in this role will be measured by value realization through these insights, which will be achieved through influence, strong stakeholder relationships, and a deep understanding of both business outcomes and data capabilities. 

In addition, this role ensures enterprise data standards, governance, and policies are adopted consistently, connects COBE data owners and sources with enterprise data platforms, and represents COBE priorities across enterprise data forums.

 

What you will do

  • Work with business leaders to understand, identify and prioritize cross-business unit data insights and potential business benefits.
  • Partner with Technology to understand the One Canada Life view of data and would work closely with the Business stakeholders to identify insights that would enable the biggest impact.
  • Guide business teams on the responsible use of customer data to enable data‑driven business insights and decision‑making, while balancing innovation with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements, and providing leadership oversight.
  • Act as a connector across business, technology, and enablement teams to identify data risks early, surface issues, and enable informed decision-making. 
  • Establish strong enterprise data governance across classification, retention, and access, and lead the implementation and ongoing management of the Enterprise Data Governance tool.
  • Enable and facilitate the utilization of enterprise data governance practices across Canada Operations & Business Enablement, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, regulatory expectations, and risk appetite.
  • Enable scalable, reusable and insightful data assets by aligning COBE needs with enterprise data capabilities.
  • Contribute to data literacy and awareness by enabling education, forums, and guidance that translate data into informed, timely, and impactful business decisions across leaders and teams.

 

What you will bring

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data governance, data enablement, or enterprise data roles. 
  • Strong ability to bridge business needs and technology, with ability to provide data insights that will enable decision-making
  • Exceptional stakeholder leadership and partnership skills, with confidence engaging senior business, technology, risk, and compliance leaders 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Senior leadership experience at the Director level within data governance, data enablement, risk, or related functions in complex, highly regulated environments. 
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, risk, and control frameworks, including data quality, metadata management, access controls, retention, and privacy. 
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise data strategies and operating models, including implementing and running data governance tooling such as data catalogs, lineage, metadata, or stewardship platforms. 
  • Strong systems-thinking capability, balancing data protection and risk management with enabling analytics, AI, and insight-driven decision-making. 
  • Comfort operating in highly matrixed organizations, using influence, education, prioritization, and relationship-building to define value, manage stakeholders, and drive outcomes
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada  website.  The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $135,100 - $185,100 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
