This a student position that is 4 months in duration (May - August 2025). You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.
This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.
Role description
This is a temporary, entry-level role within the Communications team. Your primary responsibility will be to support a communication and marketing plan to mobilize Canada Life’s Tech Strategy. Working with guidance from communications leaders, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in strategic communications plans and marketing events with employees of Canada Life as the audience. You’ll help execute on tactics from ideation through to delivery, which includes excellent writing and editing, creative thinking and collaboration with graphic designers to make messages come to life.

The position is a temporary contract position with the Brand, Marketing, Communications and Social Impact team at Canada Life.
What you will do
- Research, write and edit marketing and communications content and collateral (i.e., eNewsletters, email campaigns, videos, websites, brochures, presentations, media releases, articles, etc.)
- Contribute to the marketing and communications strategies that support stakeholder engagement and organizational projects and priorities
- Support the creation of collateral – writing, editing, proofreading – to ensure it’s error-free
- Ensure all content and collateral is executed following the company brand guidelines and messaging
- Provide creative direction to graphic designers, business partners and third-parties
- Manage various deadlines, while providing copywriting and editing assistance to other members of the communications team
- Coordinate the translation and approval of content
What you will bring
- A degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism or media and information and/or a post-secondary diploma in corporate communications
- Strong business writing and marketing writing skills – you’ll need to submit samples or do writing exercises as part of the selection process
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to adhere to brand standards
- Fluent in Microsoft 365
- Organized and able to multi-task
- Adaptable to changing priorities and able to hit moving deadlines
- Comfortable in a fast-paced team environment
- Known for your interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Eager to learn, energetic and enthusiastic
- Detail oriented when it matters
- A proactive problem solver

The base salary for this position is between $42,500 - $63,800 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
