We are looking for an Associate Privacy Compliance Manager to join our Canada Life Privacy Office.

 

As an Associate Privacy Compliance Manager, you will be part of the Canada Life Privacy Office and work closely with teams across the organization to provide practical, risk-based privacy advice. In this role, you will help the business use personal information responsibly, support compliance with privacy requirements, and contribute to a strong privacy culture across the company. Acting as a subject matter expert in the second line of defence, you will interpret privacy requirements, identify emerging issues, and support the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, standards and guidance that help us meet our obligations and maintain the trust of our customers.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Work collaboratively on projects to provide practical privacy advice and guidance on applicable laws, regulatory expectations and best practices.
  • Monitor and interpret new and existing privacy laws, regulatory guidance and industry developments to provide meaningful advice and oversight.
  • Identify and communicate emerging privacy risks and issues, assess the effectiveness and consistency of practices across the organization, and escalate concerns where appropriate.
  • Support the ongoing management of the privacy program, including communications, change implementation, and engagement with the network of privacy champions across the organization.
  • Support the business by assessing privacy breaches and providing guidance on privacy rights requests and privacy impact assessments.
  • Use data and metrics to identify trends, report insights to business partners, and support corrective actions where needed.
  • Support the development and maintenance of privacy procedures, guidelines and practical guidance materials.
  • Create and deliver clear, engaging presentations and communications on privacy topics for a range of audiences across the organization.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an IAPP designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian privacy law (provincial and national) supported by a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an insurance/financial services industry with inherent compliance related accountabilities. 
  • Good understanding of data protection and information handling practices used to safeguard personal information.
  • Ability to understand new technologies and business processes and provide clear guidance on privacy considerations in complex initiatives.
  • Ability to review policies, processes and systems to identify privacy risks and control gaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, influence outcomes, and work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain privacy concepts in a clear and practical way.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between $80,500 - $120,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
