Our Underwriting team in the Workplace Solutions division is hiring an Associate Manager, Group Underwriting Operations to lead and develop a team of Underwriting Analysts across the country by building a culture of collaboration and excellence to drive a market-leading service experience. Reporting to the Manager of Group Underwriting Operations, the successful candidate will be accountable for achievement of our service and quality ambitions.

 

This role requires Reliability Status security clearance. This is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website.

 

What you will do

  • Lead a multi-jurisdictional team of Underwriting Analysts through the renewal and financial processes supporting both Mid-Market and National account blocks
  • Passionately pursue a culture of employee empowerment leading to an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the team is meeting &, where possible, exceeding SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and target service and quality metrics
  • Collaborate with peers to refine existing processes and develop new processes to allow us to better handle regional workflow fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop and maintain a ‘Best Practices’ framework to deliver better customer and advisor focused support to our teams.
  • Provide direction and insights to help build out an effective training and onboarding program
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance as you develop and grow the analyst team

 

What you will bring

  • Relevant industry experience, ideally in group benefits underwriting
  • Leadership experience coaching, mentoring, and motivating a team
  • Bilingualism in French is an asset
  • Experience managing service levels and operational efficiency
  • Relationship building skills & ability to partner and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate and lead change
  • Knowledge of underwriting processes, systems, policies, & procedures considered an asset

 

What sets you apart

  • Intermediate-advanced experience using MS Office, including Excel and data analysis software
  • Experience utilizing Power BI and AI-powered tools in a similar role

The base salary for this position is between  $64,500.00 - $107,500.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
