Associate Manager, Legislative & Regulatory Research-12 month temporary position

We are looking for an Associate Manager, Legislative and Regulatory Research

  

Overview

This role develops and maintains the regulatory change management process on behalf of the Chief Compliance Officer, Canada in order to establish an effective regulatory compliance management framework and comply with the mandate required by OFSI Guideline E-13. 

 

This role is a critical function in our organization Regulatory Change Management process. In addition to managing the horizon scanning process and creating company wide communications regarding critical updates to the regulatory environment, this individual also manages the company's participation in consultations and supports the management and maintenance of our regulatory library. 

 

This role offers the opportunity to work with a varied group of key stakeholders across the entire organization and provides an excellent foundation for any individual who is interested in learning more about the regulatory environment and how it impacts our business and strategy.

 

What you will do

  • Draft and publish the Monthly Legislative and Regulatory Update (and improvements thereto) including developing a centralized tool and process for all teams across the business to use
  • Identify regulatory consultation that could impact the business and then support the management and monitoring of the Regulatory Consultation Process
  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of new legislation and regulation in the organization
  • Act as co-chair of the Shared Compliance Meeting which includes senior legal and senior management
  • Interact through company-wide communications with several leaders
  • Provide other regulatory change management support as may be requested from time to time including providing support for the organization's Regulatory Requirements Library
  • Maintain effective working relationships with compliance team members and business partners

 

What you will bring 

  • 3 years of experience within the financial services/insurance industry or related field
  • Bachelors degree or college diploma related to Law, Political Science, Criminology or related field preferred; legal degree would be a significant asset
  • Specialization or diploma with a focus in the field of legislation, legislative impact, financial industry, university - political science/pre-law, business administration, (finance, tax or accounting law)
  • Sophisticated understanding of the Canadian legislative process and regulatory environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures, while also identifying areas opportunities for improvement and to drive efficiencies
  • Experience in building relationships and credibility to partner and guide various levels across the organization
  • Ability to quickly absorb information, learn about business structures and financial products
  • Results driven to advance projects across the organization
  • Strong communication skills to inform action and recommendations, shape programs and provide advice to leaders
  • The successful candidate will be required to communicate in French and/or English in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec

The base salary for this position is between  $61,900 - $114,500 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
