We are looking for a candidate to join our Emerging Leaders Program.
These positions are in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.
Emerging Leaders Program Description
The Emerging Leaders Program is a 24-month accelerated leadership development rotational program designed to develop the next generation of Canada Life leaders and provide newly graduated undergraduate students broad exposure to Canada Life by rotating them through leadership opportunities across different lines of business, sponsored by key senior leaders.
You will have an opportunity to unlock your potential, grow and accelerate your career through three, eight-month rotational experiences. You’ll be placed in roles aligned to key projects and business initiatives to accelerate your growth, giving you the ability to learn about a diverse range of Canada Life businesses and immerse yourself in areas of interest.
These are opportunities designed to allow participants to explore and discover a variety of possible leadership career paths across Canada Life, while accelerating your own personal growth, network, and development. Successful students from this program will transition into longer term full-time opportunities that capitalize on their full potential.
What you will do
- Be provided an opportunity to accelerate the development of your leadership and business acumen across Canada Life’s three core business functions.
- Be a pioneer of the program by being part our fourth cohort, where you will have a voice in helping shape this program for yourself and future leaders.
- Play an important role in various business projects and initiatives that will challenge you and allow you to showcase your leadership.
- Experience three meaningful rotational assignments through our three, core business functions.
- Within our core business functions you’ll have opportunities to work across various business areas including Operations, Wealth, Strategy, Sales, or Marketing
- Complete a tailored leadership learning program with curated content that targets foundational leadership topics.
- Benefit from one-to-one mentoring with a program manager and rotation managers for the duration of the program.
- Continue to grow through a combination of experience and exposure, you will get opportunities to learn and broaden your personal network across Canada Life
- Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across business functions and take integrated approaches to identifying solutions and proposing recommendations to senior leaders that will make a positive impact on the well-being of our customers.
- Collaborate with your student cohort and complete the Emerging Leader cohort leadership business challenge project, based on real business challenges and present recommendations to senior executives that could be deployed within/across Business Units.
- Upon completion, you will have an opportunity to build your career within your chosen business area by applying to internal positions.
- Roles and responsibilities are determined after the applicant selection process, shared at the start of the term by the departments into which students are assigned to work.
What you will bring
- Newly graduated undergraduate students (graduated within the past two years)
- Degree or diploma from a Canadian college or university (graduated within past two years) regardless of their degree discipline. Post-graduate diplomas are not included.
- Academically accomplished.
- An unparalleled passion to be a leader, affect change, make an impact, and grow as a person and professional. Some examples include:
- Recognized by your school / peers through various awards.
- Participates in school extra-curricular activities and hold leadership roles.
- Regularly gives back to their school and community; have numerous examples of volunteering and helping others.
- Leads school projects or community initiatives.
- Is open, collaborative and a strong contributor to teams (academic & extra-curricular)
- Have many examples of taking innovative approaches and looking for ways to make things better.
- Must be graduated by September 2025, and not returning to full-time studies.
- Available to start full-time by September 2025.
- Eligible to work in Canada.

Flexible Work Arrangements
We work in a hybrid approach which will give you an opportunity to have the best of both worlds – a mix of home and in-office workdays. Schedules will be determined in partnership between individuals, managers, and the team.

- An invitation to join us for a candidate event to meet with Canada Life leaders.
- A virtual panel interview – if selected, you’ll meet with Canada Life leaders to discuss the program and so we can learn more about you.
- If successful, you’ll be contacted by the Program Manager with an offer to join us.
- Successful applicants will start in September 2025.

The base salary for this position is between $50,400 - $83,900 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
